R.I.P. Debbie Reynolds

Very sad. One day after Carrie Fisher died, her mother, Debbie Reynolds, had a stroke and died this afternoon at the hospital. She was 84.

So amazingly sad, especially for Todd Fisher. (5.00 / 1) (#3)

To lose two immediate family members within one day of each other has to be overwhelming. I know that it's something of a cliché to say that someone died of a broken heart, but in some cases it's true.

For the rest of us, the passing of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher is both terribly sad and yet oddly appropriate for a mother and daughter whose lives so often played out all too prominently in the public eye, and whose own emotional struggles with one another ultimately drew them back together, closer than ever. Ms. Fisher's semi-autobiographical novel about her tempestuous yet loving relationship with her mother, "Postcards from the Edge," has taken on added poignancy in light of this week's events.

A very fond aloha to two of Hollywood's most memorable grande dames.

Indeed. We had next door neighbors who had been married for over 50 years. He died of a heart attack and she followed two days later.

The loss of a will to live without the companionship can be deadly.
