There's a Republican debate on tonight on CNN. Is anyone watching? Here's a place for your thoughts on it.

    really making me nervous.

    Surprisingly, Trump makes me less nervous than Rubio or Cruz or Florina.

    I wonder how people in Iran or Russia feel when they see leading contenders for the presidency name Putin as the prime enemy of the US - and call for bombing.

    Paul comes across as reasonable.

    But they are ignoring him for the most part.

    Personally, I am for talking. For negotiating.
    When people like Florina call for not talking... I can hardly believe what I am hearing.

    I hope that Clinton and Sanders will come out strongly and definitively knock the living sh-t out of these dangerous demagogues. If either one of them parse their statements - I will truly despair.

    didn't watch the debates.  I find it hard to believe folks outside the US are watching.  Kinda like the BS about a video on youtube that no body watched caused Benghazi.

    If the truth be known there is a small group of the chattering political class that cares about candidates blabbering about them selves more than a year before the election, but nobody else does.

    I think - absent Trump, I think it's a snooze-fest; with him, it's people on the edges of their seats wanting drama and a possible fist fight to break out.

    Finding it hard to believe I watched the whole thing - and did it without alcohol, actually.  What was I thinking?

    I do think that Trump began to fade once actual policy began to be discussed; the contrast between "I'm so phenomenal and I will win at everything," and actual policy proposals (even if they were tired and many-times failed ones) was pretty glaring.

    I have a feeling the next GOP debate will comprise a considerably smaller field.  And the smaller it gets, the easier it will be to see that the crackpottery isn't imaginary or fleeting.

    I don't even watch CNN afterwards. I DO look at the CNN and  Yahoo stories on the low lights of the debate and that is enough. Rand Paul is a also ran but I can't believe that Trump said he should not even be on the stage as the 11th man. Can you imaging him as POTUS telling a world dignitary that their country is meaningless and they should not be involved and should go back into their hole. I would not mind seeing Trump and Putin in a debate as they are both a$$es. Who has the biggest bank account or the best muscles. ieeeewwwwwwww, I don't want to see Trump's body. Heh.

    apparently that is his big problem. My friend in OH said he wouldn't let anybody see him sworn into office. He hid from the voters in the last election. He can do small doses like a debate but seems like he can't be out in public for long periods of time. Maybe ADHD or something.

    So no harm in taking the edge off, I couldn't watch this if I wasn't in an altered state. Good god.

    The new paradigm...Jeb is crumbling on live TV and I think he's done...like by South Carolina the latest. Trump also sh#tting the bed and will probably go up in the polls tomorrow.

    Every effort by each clown to shine furthers buries them in the general. The ones that pass for human have no chance to survive the primaries. Passing for human being 2-3 clowns tops.

    The NSA needs to do something productive and kill the international broadcast post haste, for the good  of the nation. This is embarrassing.

    none of the conga line will be sought after by toothpaste companies for their endorsements---the number of smiles over the three hours was, for the lot, 3.45.   The fraction to be attributed to Carly (aka Secretariat) when she go off her zinger to Trump about her face.  Well, if we want to count a snarl.  What a bunch of angry people--and mean-spirited.  

    America is the greatest country in the world except that we have no moral fiber, are addled with gateway drugs, have criminalized Christianity, have a Supreme Court Chief Justice who is a liberal--who knew?, the Navy has no boats, we are dangerously unsafe unlike when Jeb's brother protected us from 9/ll attacks, we only have skimpy wall to keep "them" out, and we are short of seasonal farm workers to do the jobs Americans will not do,  vaccines cause autism, no one can be expected to know all those Arab's names and stuff.

    ISIS is everywhere, all 30,000 of them, Iran will get a nuke any day,  we are talking to Putin and serving Chinese to the Chinese, and some crazy guy in North Korea has a nuke  that can reach Reagan's airplane, and bakers now have to arrange flowers, and florists have to bake for gays. Or something like that.   Thank goodness for Trump, the air rushing out blew some of the stink off.   And, Rubio's kept hydrated, but not with Poland Spring, this time.   Yes, America is the greatest country in the world.  You should see the others.

    I was trying to square that description of America with one of them's closing statement that he had Reagan's sunny optimism...well no one showed any of that the previous 3 hours.

    Not that I want Reagan's blindness either, but a realistic approach that recognizes problems without being terrified, or trying to terrify the populace, would be nice. I guess I will stick with the Dems...as if there was any doubt.

    way too much of this so-called debate has been Trump-driven.  And the attention is what Trump lives and breathes.

    There's a possibility that some portion of the electorate will see Trump for the bloviating ass he is; he doesn't seem to be able to answer any question without insulting someone.  This one's a liar, that one's a loser, no, he won't apologize, this one shouldn't be on the stage, that one's tanking.

    He uses the questions for little else but to pump himself up.

    He's a train wreck; an id with bad hair.

    Love this line: "some of the greatest scholars agree with me."

    I'll say this, though: if he does tank, the explosion that follows will be like nothing we've ever seen before.

    I am a big Alexander Hamilton fan and was stunned when they said they were taking him off the $10 bill. Once again, I was do these people even know the history of their country? Especially the Treasury Dept of which Hamilton was the first Secretary Treasurer. All people remember is the duel part. If they were American history buffs, like myself, they would know what a big part of our beginnings he played. He was Washington's aide in the Revolutionary War and afterwards kept the broke  country from going under. And now, they want to stick any woman on the bill when they could do that to Jackson and the $20. Or just make up a $25 bill or other currency. BTW, going to see Hamilton on Broadway in November. It's the hot ticket right now. A 2-3 hr ride into the city from PA but I think it will be worth it.

    I know this is not scientific but it does show something about how all the talking heads are mostly saying Carley or Ben are the winner with the others fairly close yet some segment of the public see Trump in a rout.
