Iraqi Forces Move in On ISIS in Ramadi

Iraqi forces have been moving in on ISIS in Ramadi for 2 weeks. Only 6,00 to 1,000 ISIS fighters remained at the start of the new offensive. Yesterday Iraqi Forces reportedly moved into the town center. The U.S. says there are now only 250 - 350 ISIS fighters remaining. What about civilians?

Iraqi airplanes dropped leaflets on Sunday urging residents of Ramadi to evacuate within 72 hours, warning of an impending operation and suggesting two evacuation routes. Colonel Warren estimated that thousands or even tens of thousands of civilians were still in the city; hundreds of thousands have fled.

The U.S. says Ramadi will be cleared of ISIS in 2 to 3 days. Then what? [More...}

Even if the Iraqi military finally does reclaim Ramadi from the Islamic State, regional experts warn, the Sunni city will not take kindly to being overrun by the Shiite-dominated Iraqi military.

More evidence of mission creep?

Mr. Abadi said that he had agreed to the deployment of 200 American ground troops in Iraq to help with operations against the Islamic State.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, , Yemen, Somalia. We've got boots in all of them. They may not be doing hand to hand combat, but they're fighting and participating in this never-ending war. Who benefits? Bomb and missile makers, tank makers, artillery makers, those who transport all this stuff, those who sell it and lobby for Government contracts ....the list is endless.

As bad as this is, Republicans are shilling for more.

Who is not benefiting? The American people. I'd rather see the money spent on health care, infrastructure repairs, mental health treatment, education, and a million other things.
