My picks:

Group F - Salvador, Bosnia-Herzegovina +105 over Iran. Iran has a chance of going through, needs to win and have Nigeria lose, then it goes to goal differential.

Group F - Porto Alegre, Nigeria +1 (+165) over Argentina. Argentina is through though Nigeria could top the group with a win.

Group E - Manaus, Honduras vs. Switzerland, Under 2½ (+130), Switzerland is level on points but trails on goal differential to Ecuador. A better result today puts them through. Also could go through on GD if they pound Honduras.

Group E - Rio de Janeiro, Ecuador +1 (+140) over France. France has won the group. Ecuador needs to match Switzerland's result to go through.

    Nigeria equalizes at 47th minute, but the relief doesn't last long, Rojo strikes off a corner kick in the 50th minute.  3-2 Argentina.

    And Iran's chances have gotten very grim...down 2-Nil to Bos-Herz.

    Argentina wins 3-2 but Nigeria is in the final 16...Iran has been eliminated after their 3-1 defeat.

    And in World Cup gambling news...a Swedish punter cashes in on a "Will Suarez bite somebody?" prop bet at 174-1...now that's sound investing!

    if a bookmaker ran their business like FIFA runs theirs, they wouldn't be in business very long...trust is huge in the investment industry.

    Big games get my attention every time. I watch first round Stanley Cup games because I know those hockey will play their lungs out. Same with the World Cup. It means so much to the rest of the globe, it's like watching a Super Bowl every day. BTW, that Suarez phucker from Uruguay, who bites like a toddler...ban that dude for life, or at least a full season with the CHANCE for reinstatement.

    Truthfully, Suarez needs to get his ass kicked after one of these episodes. I would've completely understood and sympathized with the Italian playewr if he had sent Suarez to the turf with a KO right cross.

    And honestly, I just love any big game in any sport. Brings out the best, and worst it's apparent, in so many players.

    to the West Side rooting interest...powerhouses Brazil and Argentina.  Preferred to the European teams, but not as cool as the West Side underdogs.

    Torn between wanting to see Nigeria or Iran advance...be nice for at least one African squad to make it, and sure as hell don't want it to be Ghana at the expense of the US.  But otoh I'd like to see Iran get through so Iranian women can keep on telling the morality police to f8ck themselves and watch the games in (gasp!) the company of men.

    I have been on the road, first to Pensacola for Josh's AFO guy who specialized in arthogryposis, and today was his surgeon in Atlanta.  They are going to take his Veptor system out, he has graduated, it is probably doing him more harm than good now.

    Health is so important.  You are in our thoughts.

    root for Greece? They invented Western Civilization (but what have they done for us lately?) have been through hell-and-high-water in the last hundred years, and have never very advanced far in the World Cup.

    World Cup success, no....but they did have their magical 2004 European Championship run, more futbol glory than most countries get.  

    One thing for sure, they love 'em in Astoria.

    if ya feel like doing a useful black-op, maybe you can find a way to make the chartered plane en route to Brasil from Ghana with 3 million cash on board disappear, to improve the USA's chances of advancing.  If the Black Stars don't take the pitch, we're in.  C'mon, you've done shadier sh*t before for lesser reasons!
