Tamerlan Tsarnaev is Buried, Time to Move On

Tamerlan Tsarnaev is buried in Richmond, Virginia. Get over it. The protests are nothing more than rank bigotry.

“He’s a Muslim. We don’t need that here,” Margaret Stevens, a 68-year-old-retiree, said.

Uncle Ruslan?  Or do we know the burial site due to the efforts of some snooping reporters?  In this case this knowledge doesn't do anybody any good.

the cemetery isn't actually in Richmond. it isn't even anywhere close to the city limits, but several miles north of Richmond. I guess they figured most people would recognize Richmond, but not the actual location.

"Rank bigotry" is an odd description for those expressing disdain for a mass murderer.

She wasn't "expressing disdain for a mass murderer".  She was expressing disdain for a Muslim.

    Yman, I agree with you.
This was a bigoted statement against Muslims.
I hold no particular respect for this dead terrorist and if the local populace wants to spit on his grave that's their right. But they shouldn't be bigots and people should be grown up enough to allow for a burial. I don't think there is an afterlife , but whether there is or is not this guy is beyond our Judgement now.

Emphasis added.  Tarring all those that show disdain for a mass murderer because of the mouthings of the odd bigot or two may be fun at best.

she didn't like the Muslim in question. But she said, in context:

"He's a Muslim. We don't need that here," Margaret Stevens, a 68-year-old-retiree, said as she bought items at the market. "All that stuff started in Boston. It's just not right. They shouldn't have brought him. It didn't happen here."
    (Emphasis added)

She probably doesn't care what any of us think, but if she had said "We don't need them here..." I could see the connection to Muslims. "...that..." turns it into a comment about the bombing.

Does that make her a bigot??

"a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion."

Was she intolerant before the bombing? Is she intolerant now of all Muslims, or just the ones connected to the bombings in Boston and various other terrorist activities?

I don't know. But the reaction to what she said is why I try very hard to use the term "Muslim terrorist" when referring to such activities.

To make all of this back and forth about words really ironic is this:

At the nearby Frog Level Market, reaction was mixed among shoppers who now face the prospect of seeing their community, which boasts of its connection to the famous racehorse, will now be known as the resting place for an alleged domestic terrorist.
    (Emphasis added.)

    Alleged??? Alleged?

We know what he did. We know what he was. Yet the discussion is about what she meant.

Once again political correctness runs a muck.

Or Jeralyn wasn't very clear which protests she was referring to.
The article she links to doesn't mention any protests at his actual grave site but instead some protests in other areas when it was found out he might be buried in those other places. Only one of the locals in Caroline makes an anti-muslim statement. Perhaps Jeralyn jumped the gun on this.
