President Obama Live in Boulder

Here's the live stream for President Obama's appearance in Boulder today. He is just beginning. "Hello Colorado."

President Obama stopped for breakfast at The Buff restaurant.

Obama ordered the Ole Skillet, which includes red skinned potatoes, chili verde jalapenos, white onions, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and two eggs a with side of toast

Reminds me of when Blagojevich stopped to eat on his way to FCI Englewood.

Obama stayed at the Westin in Westminister last night. Quips from his speech below:

Obama Care: "I like the name, I do care."

"I guess you could call it Romney doesn't care."

Speaks in favor of gay marriage, women's right to choice, and the Dream Act.

Romney had nothing to say about Afghanistan. No plan for the 33,000 troops who have come home from there.

I said we'd end the Iraq war and we did. I said we'd take out Bin Laden and we did. We will have all troops home from Afghanistan by 2014. We will serve our veterans as much as they served us.

Obama ended his speech, Bruce Springsteen's "We Take Care of our Own" played for the crowd, and he greeted Senator Benett and Gov. Hickenlooper:

Then he waded out into the throngs of people with the music still playing and greeted them and shook hands for about 10 minutes.

Consider Boulder energized. His message was, it's up to you what happens so get out and vote and tell everyone else to do the same.

And he's off to the next stop.

is that he says nothing to encourage his audiences to vote for down-ticket Democrats. Control of the Iowa Senate is at stake in this election, and if Democrats don't keep their majority, the Medicaid expansion (which is one of the best parts of "Obamacare") is not going to happen. That means about 150,000 Iowans (5 percent of the state's population) won't be covered.

Obama said nothing in Iowa yesterday about electing more Democrats to serve in Congress or the state legislature.

    He didn't do that in 2008 either (none / 0) (#12)

And maybe that's the plan - if the Republicans take over the Senate and keep the House, he can continue the argument that they are being mean and won't let him do any of his great plans.

This, unfortunately, is not a new M.O. for him.

That was the perfect prescription for the alarming case of verbal diarrhea that came out of Tampa last week.

Not sure the characterization (none / 0) (#5)

of what came out of Tampa last week is accurate.  A gastro-intestinal imagery would, at least,  be real and human---this convention was anything but.  It was a charade on parade. The readily transparent  pretenses could not be concealed by their lies, shined by coal-miner ancestors or shielded from a talking chair.  But then, what could disguise the chimera of the Republican platform ridden by R & R.

as hypochondria or - even better, Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy:

Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSP), a type of factitious disorder, is a mental illness in which a person acts as if an individual he or she is caring for has a physical or mental illness when the person is not really sick. The adult perpetrator has MSP and directly produces or lies about illness in another person under his or her care, usually a child under 6 years of age. It is considered a form of abuse by the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. However, cases have been reported of adult victims. (The term "by proxy" means "through a substitute.")

People with MSP have an inner need for the other person (often his or her child) to be seen as ill or injured. It is not done to achieve a concrete benefit, such as financial gain. People with MSP are even willing to have the child or patient undergo painful or risky tests and operations in order to get the sympathy and special attention given to people who are truly ill and their families. Factitious disorders are considered mental illnesses because they are associated with severe emotional difficulties.

Whatever it was, it certainly induced a fair amount of gastrointestinal distress, that's for sure.

....I tried to tell some friends on the press bus to stop at The Sink on The Hill in boulder for a burger and a draft.  Apparently that would be just a little too fun for the Obama twits running the show.

he talked about it at the beginning of his speech, for a few minutes. He said they named a pizza after him, the POTUS. He gave them a big plug.

really high marks with the students if he'd arranged to stop for one of the specialties at the student union Alferd Packer Memorial Grill, named for a famous local cannibal of the 19th C.

Of course the humorless Repubs would have accused him of endorsing cannibalism, probably like he learned it in Kenya, but still it would have been a hoot and a big hit with the youngsters.
