Romney's 'big role' for Trump: Talking 'birther'

Mitt Romney "jokes" about the racist birther attacks on the president. But the short-fingered vulgarian Donald Trump, slated for, in his words, "a big role" at the Republican National Convention, is deadly serious about it. After receiving the "Statesman of the Year" award (I kid you not) from the Sarasota Republican Club, Trump said:

[S]ome people thought [Romney's quip] might not be a joke. It happens to be an issue that a lot of people believe in. [...] Let’s just say this there’s a huge group of people that are not believers in what [Obama] did, what he said and where he came from. We’ll see what happens. Well see what happens over the coming weeks and months."

[...] I had a big role tomorrow night. You know what happened tomorrow night. So it’s now up to them. […] It’s totally up to them, whatever they like," he said. "They gave me a big role and I was looking forward – I was actually going to Tampa right after this, right after this dinner, but now I probably will be going back to New York. I may come back but I’ll probably be going to New York after the dinner. Asked to elaborate on what the "big surprise" was, Trump just said it was a "very big thing." "I think they're still going to probably do it," he added.

A very big thing from the leading birther in the nation for the Republican National Convention. Suuuure Romney was joking.

NOTE: Due to Hurricane Isaac, Trump has been bumped from the schedule.

    Romney's "joke" (5.00 / 1) (#7)

was, IMO, nothing less than a birther charge.

When GOP flaks use Obama's "joke" at the Correspondent's Dinner in a lame attempt to deflect criticism and claim  equivalence I'm reminded of when my brother's right hand was amputated.  No one, but no one joked about that terrible tragedy.  My brother, to set people at ease, joked about it.  Still no one else ever joked about his loss, a loss that profoundly changed his life.

funny, and then claiming it was a joke, is about as passive-aggressive as it gets; bullies engage in this kind of behavior all the time, and the more we learn about Romney, the more obvious it is that that's part of who he is.

of his a groovy new haircut. Because Mitt was a nice boy and good at styling. Even though he doesn't remember that incident at all. A truly selfless guy, that Mitt. Not an ounce of bully in him.

to be removed from the convention schedule. You can imagine how embarassing it would be for hurricane force winds to whip that crazy hairpiece off and send it flying into the face of the nominee.

I'm not sure whether the GOP actually believes some of this stuff or it's fodder for the "rubes" so they ignore the fact that Romney really has no solution to our economic problems.

It's an ill wind, indeed, that blows no one any good.  : - )

No great loss, he was going to get up and aim his trademark line at Obama and the crowd was going to roar as though it were the height of wit (although for that bunch it probably is).

    the offical schedule anyways.

Look at this as some kind of stunt for TV.  Some people will tune in to see if and when he is at the convention and what he will do.

My money is still on zip lining down to the convention floor.

...they're going to take the "YF" line and aim it at Obama every 5 seconds.
