March Madness Open Thread

A little late with this. Here are my picks today (will provide the full bracket tonight):

K-State(W), Marquette (W), Murray State(W), Vandy(W), L-Ville(W), Montana, UNC-Asheville. W indicates my pick for straight up winners. Otherwise the pick is against the spread (i.e. Asheville is (+16) against the Cuse but I expect Cuse to win.)

Later games - New Mexico (W -4)(5 units), Va Commonwealth (W +7) (4 units), Gonzaga (W -1)(4 units), Baylor (W -7½) (3 units), Connecticut (W -1½), New Mexico State (W +6½) (3 units),Ohio State (W -17), Colorado (W +5½).

My Final 4 - Kentucky, Mizzou, Ohio State, Michigan. Ohio State-Kentucky in the Final. Ohio State to win it all. Open Thread.

Is really a special kind of Republican politician.  He says the things that we all assume they are thinking - out loud.

What will we do when we don't have him to kick around anymore?  Here is the latest from Santorum while campaigning for votes he won't get in Puerto Rico:

""Like any other state, there has to be compliance with this and any other federal law," Santorum told the paper. "And that is that English has to be the principal language. There are other states with more than one language such as Hawaii but to be a state of the United States, English has to be the principal language.""

    meanwhile:

"Puerto Ricans, who recognize both English and Spanish as their official languages, are scheduled to vote in November on a referendum to decide whether they want to pursue statehood or remain a self-governing U.S. commonwealth."

"the U.S. Constitution does not designate an official language, nor is there a requirement that a territory adopt English as its primary language in order to become a state."

self-determination.  Which is a different thing since I don't expect them to vote for statehood.

From what I understand English is already an official language.  One of two.

admits that he's way too smart for his own good (heh).

Romney assures that Fox is pretty fair and balance, or pretty, fair, and balanced, or something. Whatever, he smiled that vacant smile when he said it.

    Santorum. Wait. What?

    Ron Paul. Damn, man.

Obama is president of all the people who matter to him. The man truly cares. He'll bipartisan anybody. He goes anyway he can get it.

Frank Zappa would probably be a good write-in, if only because if he was still alive he wouldn't have any part of  it:

"But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that" said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be" said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

has a good guest post up at ZeroHedge today, following and saluting Executive Director Greg Smith's resignation from Goldman Sachs yesterday.

    Humanity Is Rising

Here is where the parasitic 1% have their problem. What they have "sold" the American public as the spirit of the nation is now in direct opposition to reality. In fact, it has become so obviously untrue that the population is waking in drove to the truth and the truth is that we have a utterly corrupt, sociopathic minority running the nation like a giant criminal syndicate for their own power and money. Therein lies their weakness however. They have no philosophy. These guys are actually so twisted that all they think about is how can they keep growing their money and power. Furthermore, they are operating under an exposed playbook of control. Just take a look at Obama's approval ratings. They are plunging. They are plunging despite fabricated economic numbers and biblical stock market rigging to make things look good. They are plunging because people are waking up and seeing all of this for what it is. A gigantic scam. All the signs I see point to increasing desperation on their part and exponential awakening on the part of the meat of the bell curve. These guys are toast and what we should now be focusing most of our attention on is what kind of society we want when this one collapses. Hopefully the other side of the bell curve can influence the debate for the first times in five thousand years. That is my hope and my vision of the future.

    and much more...

    Nice opening quote, too...

Truth: the most deadly weapon ever discovered by humanity.  Capable of destroying entire perceptual sets, cultures, and realities. Outlawed by all governments everywhere.  Possession is normally punishable by death.
