    How we treat the incarcerated (5.00 / 2) (#1)

says more about us as a society than it says about the inmates.  I'm grateful to Occupy for choosing to highlight this issue.

    I'm very grateful for their efforts too (5.00 / 1) (#3)

At what point do we not compare ourselves to other first world countries and notice that we are destroying people, not making them accountable?  We are handing out personality disorders from the prison trauma too like it was candy.  We are creating criminals, not housing them, and it's big big big money business too.  To make that income stream every month you must have a dependable incarceration stream.

I don't know about ICE facilities, but if the Occupy people tried anything at the prisons in my home state, their complaints would get "short shrift" and their "occupy" actions would be met with shotguns.

The people trying to "occupy" prisons may well quickly be residing in them.

If only that were true... (none / 0) (#5)

You're talking about lawmakers right? ;)

Nevermind, now I sound like the "tough on crime" legislators who I despise who filled all them cages with human beings.
