President Obama Sings Al Green at Campaign Appearance

President Obama sings 7 seconds of an Al Green tune at a campaign appearance at the Apollo Theater in NY. He was good! He then said to Al, who was in the audience:

"Don't worry Rev, I cannot sing like you," Obama said. "I just wanted to show my appreciation."

He could have probably sung a few more bars reputably.

Instead of the well-worn "have-a-beer-with" standard, we should adopt a "have-dinner-with" standard.

Obama and Bill Clinton would be top of the list of interesting people to talk to....

he can sing two bars of music by a black singer without going off key.  That must count since everyone is getting off on it.

the musical version of an Obama presidency; I mean, what the heck, these people - and Obama - have already shown their abilities to tap dance on cue, and golly - wouldn't indefinite detention and predator-drones-coming-to-the-airspace-near-you, and the approaching austerity, and the loss of our civil liberties and privacy rights just seem like so much more fun if he and his administration would just set it all to some upbeat music, add some peppy choreography and ask the campaign folks to do the lighting?

    Argh.

So do you think any of the Republican candidates can carry a tune in a bucket?  I am pretty sure they cannot deliver lyrics like the Rev or the President.

The President sang two bars.  I'd be shocked if one or more of the republican candidates could sing a song or hymn in tune.
