UARS is Down

So UARS passed over the U.S. and is down somewhere. NASA was checking on where an hour ago, and then must have gone home to bed because there's no tweets since. There are reports it was sighted in MN, continued on to Canada, Africa and Australia.

Anyone see anything?

    Of course that assumes he didn't say "Arrrrggggg..."

    I'm sure that some of the pieces wanted to to go to upscale Venus, and a very vocal minority were pushing for scenic Mars.  But they finally decided to keep things local.

    I went out at about 8:40 local time (Western Colorado) to see if I could pick it up on its next-to-last revolution.  There was a pass at that time predicted by heavens-above.com.

    I didn't see anything at the predicted time, but as long as my eyes were dark-adapted, I decided to grab a pair of binoculars and look for the bright supernova in the galaxy M101.  While I was looking for M101, I did see a satellite in the field of the binos and tracked it until it went out of sight.  It could have been UARS, but was late (not surprising if the orbit was decaying) and not as bright as it should have been.

    It was probably something else.  There's lots of stuff floating around up there and I always see non-naked-eye satellites when using my binos or telescope.

    We were not on the ground track for the final revolution, so there was no chance to see it re-enter from here.

    NASA said that it re-entered over the Pacific.  There were some unsubstantiated Twitter reports of debris landing in Okotoks, AB, which is near Calgary.
