Sunday Night TV and Open Thread

(The latest in Hurricane footwear.)

Sunday and Thursday are currently the best TV nights of the week. Tonight, Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race" is in Denver.

There's also a new episode of Big Brother and Breaking Bad. And the MTV Music Video Awards are tonight. MTV sent a private jet yesterday to collect Snooki and the Jersey Shore gang from the East Coast so they wouldn't miss it.

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

Better hope there is enough water to swim because walking in those would be a real beech.

Does anyone know IF or when Mad Men returns?

Last I knew production on a new season hadn't started.  It would be a shame if Mad Men never returned.

Banana Republic will require its return (none / 0) (#3)

Younger friends of mine/fans of the show are so excited by Banana Republic's new "Mad Men" line of retro fashions that the show must go on.

And a good show, it is -- but I do not share the excitement about the return of fashions from the Ike and Mamie era.

about the fashions is the fine materials. I look at some of Betty's summer dresses and can just feel the real cotton and other fabrics..

    No polyester/etc blends there!

look off the rack at Banana Republic, no matter what dress you buy. Elizabeth Moss's and January Jones' dresses are tailored for their shapes. And Christina Hendricks' are architect-ed!

in the last thread, where is the best chinese food on the West Side of Manhattan?

I know I can get basically decent food in chinatown (and in Philadelphia).

    (My favorite in the world)

    I don't know (5.00 / 1) (#7)

Because when Daughter Zorba (who lives in Manhattan) wants Chinese food, she goes out (or takes us out when we visit) to Flushing.  (And the best Chinese food I've had in the US is Chinatown in San Francisco.)

Other than Irene was of interest yesterday. Coverage of India included interview of former CEO of India's telecommunications giant re conflict of interest and bribery. Also coverage of the anti-fraud protest mvt.  People taking to the streets.

soon and has been sent a copy of the illustration for this post.

The laughing can be heard here, from miles away.  She loves it.  Thanks!

(But seriously, she has made friends there now, and we all are shocked by the flooding that we see on tv so are hoping the best for the folks there.)
