I think MaryB is conspiring with the Supreme Court to force me to deliver the long promised analysis of Thomas' views on preemption.

I think Justices have just decided in the last 20 years that they get paid by the word or something. Can you believe how long some of these opinions are these days?

that Scalia is probably the clearest writer currently on the Court. He has a voice, even if it's often evil.

Because this will certainly make the cost to produce and deliver go up.

...is an inanimate object with no value whatsoever in and of itself. It's only value derives from the simple thoughts and feelings of people.  It is merely a proxy for how well or not well human beings treat other human beings. Because it has no basis in nature, because it is not alive, everything related to money's value is based on greed of one form or another.

More costly new vehicles (none / 0) (#8)

    .

More costly new vehicles, which are overall safer than older vehicles, means those older less safe vehicles will stay on the road longer.  This "victory" will mean more people will be maimed and killed than otherwise.

It is really odd to think of wanting to avoid death or maiming as greed.
