    Huntsman & Newt one on one debate (5.00 / 1) (#1)
by loveed on Fri Dec 02, 2011 at 06:01:28 PM EST
Huntsman & Newt will debate Dec.12.
I think this is a big deal for Huntsman. He will get a lot of national exposure.
Why is Newt doing this? I think he wants Huntsman to be the nominee. Because he knows he cannot beat Obama. He has to much baggage. And Huntsman has the best chance.

    My take (5.00 / 1) (#2)
by Addison on Fri Dec 02, 2011 at 06:11:24 PM EST
Newt is doing this to raise his exposure (that's why he does everything though), but insofar as there's a strategic reason for raising Huntsman's profile it's that Huntsman represents someone who will siphon votes away from Romney but not Newt. So Newt can set up Huntsman as a drain on Romney from another political flank without worrying that he's setting up his own competitor.

    That's my opinion, anyway.

     It's Huntsman who needs it.
The media will treat this like a Ali & Fraiser fight.
Newt cannot win,and he knows it. He also knows Romney will lose. The republican best choice is Huntsman.

The media has treated the primaries like a sideshow. The country is in serious trouble, and the media is following Cain.
I have said from the being, the republican want to win,and wants someone who has experience and a plan. Also there is a changing of the guards in the repub. party(dems is now the Obama party). If you followed the polls no one is over 25%. There never was a front runner.
The media has never given Huntsman fair coverage.
Lately that has been changing. Joe Scrabrough is behind him. His name is starting to get out there.
Repub. blogger are encouraging there readers to take another look(it will be the first look for most of them). His economic plan endores by the Wall St. Journal.
Huntsman is the most qualified candidate hands down. Working for Obama is a plus (he also worked for Reagan,Bush 1st.&2nd), it gives him experience on China no one else has. His record as governor is astounding(won his 2nd term by 80% of the vote). Number one in job creation, best state for business. Initiated a flat tax.
Huntsman promblem is name reconition. He will get this in a debate aganist Newt. The media will follows Newt anywhere he goes.
Two intellegent men discussing the issues that concerns all Americans. No petty moderator, asking stupid questions(Anderson Cooper).
There will be a lot of people watching this debate not just repub.(Obama aproval rating 43%).Huntsman's appeal, crosses party lines.
Newt offered to debate all the candidates. Romney refused.
Huntsman refused to participate in the Trump debate.
The media will hype this debate like and Ali&Fraiser fight. Old guard vs the new.

Anyone who thinks that any Huntsman-Gingrich debate will compare in any way to the series of Ali-Frazier bouts--which included the "Fight of the Century"--must not have been paying attention when Ali and Frazier were fighting.

A Huntsman-Gingrich bout does not even generate enough interest to make the undercard of an Ali-Frazier fight.

But here's the part that really kills me.  You're kicking me to the curb because I was messing around, and instead you're going with... Newt Gingrich?  I repeat: are you fu*king kidding me?  Oh, I know what you're saying: you love Newt because he's an "intellectual."  Well, Newt Gingrich is the intellectual of the Republican field the way Moe was the intellectual of the Stooges.

And that leads me to my final point: you disgust me, America.  Right now if I had my way, I'd up and move to another country.  I really, truly would.  Only I don't know where any of them are, and my wife won't let me leave the house.

either Wisconsin or Michigan State as per usual when a team from the Heartland ventures to Pasadena.  Still, it will be nice to have a "traditional" Rose Bowl again.  I'd love to see more inter-conference preseason games too--especially if say, Iowa, would play in Boulder or SLC.

I'm very much enjoying the first ever Big Ten Championship game.  The best thing about it (aside from actually being a good game) is that Ohio State, Michigan and/or Nebraska aren't there!

On the plus side, the Ducks have a been quite successful in defeating water rodent teams. Hopefully, that will hold true when the meet the Badgers.

Like you, I am looking forward to a traditional Rose Bowl game. Screwing with the Rose Bowl is one of the reasons I dislike the BCS.

Alabama may very well be the 2nd best team in the country but they have no claim to number 1. If OSU loses to LSU by more than three and Alabama wins their bowl game, make Bama number 2 again. But now let's see if the Cowboys can knock off number 1.
