    had outstanding natural acting ability in maybe her first outing in Silkwood. Nothing forced, wooden or groaningly amateurish about it as there normally is so often when superstar singers are brought in to be in a movie.

    Of course she did have all those years in the sixties and seventies performing before the cameras.  Plus for a while in her early superstardom she had to pretend she was married to Sonny when in fact they were living together in sin.

    Big Cher fan here.  And there was no more beautiful a talented singer back in her prime.  Like an Egyptian queen.

    When you see someone who wasn't particularly a very good soldier, someone who had done very underhanded things as a leader to include sexual harassment, get a $250,000 contract for six months of work inside the wire via the military industrial complex to be a drone operator and kill people as a civilian contractor.....that means that we are now going to kill people that we know almost nothing about.  We are now going to shoot anything that moves out there.  They aren't exactly looking for the most ethical people out there to do this now are they?  Nor are they desiring the military chain of command or sworn in soldiers to have to be directly responsible for these actions.  Something is getting shady out there.

    Contractors only flew surveilling drones and they were not permitted to take any kind of direct action.  That was some time ago though. There seems to be a push to acquire more "drone" personnel so I make the assumption as many anticipated that boots leaving the ground in Afghanistan means drones coming in.  And we are talking the CIA running most of this so who knows how they may want to morph things?

    I got a really bad feeling when I discovered who one of the individuals was who was recently recruited, and he was recruited...he was not unemployed looking for work.  He's scummy.  And like all areas of life scum feels most comfortable with what?  Other scumminess

    Reading Greenwald and Ackerman does not relieve that initial bad feeling.

    the ugliness and deaths of innocents are journalists and their contacts on the ground in the drone hit areas.  I know Greenwald won't let up.  Ackerman has military contacts though too, he will probably get push back.  They are intent on running things in this fashion or they would have never gone here to begin with.

    The revolution may not be televised, but the "Occupy" protests are now reaching into American homes via a television ad.

    The 30-second ad features nine "Occupy Wall Street" protesters talking about what they would like the movement to achieve. It is the work of filmmaker David Sauvage, who said he filmed it in half a day on Oct. 3.

    The ad began airing Saturday on Bloomberg News, ESPN, CBS Sports and Fox News, among other networks and is booked through Monday. The purchase of air time was financed by donations from 168 citizens using a social contribution model created by the San Francisco-based LoudSauce ad agency.

    The ad does not request donations to the cause but rather attempts to counter what Sauvage sees as a concerted effort in conservative quarters to portray the protesters as members of the lunatic fringe.

    "It's not that I want people to send money ... not so much a call to action but a call to meaningful political engagement," he said. "I want people to see it and say that the people that are protesting are real people with meaningful concerns that I can relate to. And hopefully, in a subtle way, the ad helps  shift the conversation."

    Just flat out 100% pi$$ed off.  I just heard on the Sunday silly talk that he says this in his new book about Obama going after Wall Street the few times that he has...

    "Many of them supported me when I raised their taxes in 1993, because I didn't attack them for their success,"

    What sort of denial exists in Clinton world these days?  Who was Brooksley Born again and what was she upset about when she worked for Bill Clinton as he sat in the White House?  Oh yeah, unregulated derivatives.  Who said you couldn't regulate them WAY BACK THEN again and was given a position of extreme power in the Clinton White House?  Oh Yeah, that was Larry Summers.  In fact, Larry Summers claimed way back then that if anyone forced the regulating of derivatives (things that betting Larry loves) the whole world would blow up.  And ten years later the whole world did blow up because nobody regulated derivatives.

    Because of Bill Clinton's failings, Wall Street has become a rabid behemoth.  And if Suskind's book is to be believed Obama began his discourse with the Street by being very friendly.  After the Street in dire straits saw that response, they giggled with each other and then shat on Obama every day after that.

    If Bill Clinton had stepped into the Obama White House on day one, he'd be lucky if even he could find his own arse with both hands.  I'm a huge Bill Clinton fan on most days, but today he can just BITE ME!

    There's a war on the ground out there now Bill.  You are complicit in how it came to be so just own that, own how wrong everyone was and get on with this thing.  Pick your side, this will be the last big fight in your lifetime and it will define the country your grandchildren will claim and get to grow up in.  Maybe you look back and feel bad right now and you want it fixed, that's fine but blaming Obama won't fix it and how you claim he "should have been" wouldn't have fixed it either.  This is a war, Wall Street and corporation vs. getting to be human beings.  Shut the hell up, choose your side, choose your weapons, or get the hell off the field!

    Out of the general assemblies a platform evolves, then candidates who have supped at the table of this new think tank are offered to the American people.  IT IS TIME TO TAKE BACK MY COUNTRY!  D.C. can only ignore the people for so long, occupy is the people and the protesting grows and grows and grows.  Soon the influence of OWS will be a contender too!  Sad that almost the entire establishment dislikes or hates OWS right now.  It will foul up the ground rules they have all grown to operate within and often even cherish, though it disenfranchises almost the entire population of the United States.

    as much as I think the SEC is overhyped, overexposed and overpaid, there was enough outstanding defense played by both teams, especially LSU's secondary, to say the game was not a bust but just one completely dominated by the defenses.

    A true bust would have been sloppy play with numerous dumb penalties, dropped passes, careless fumbles and boneheaded coaching.  But apart from a few missed field goals by Bama and a couple of costly penalties, it was a well played game.  It's just that neither team had the type of QB that Stanford. Boise and Southern Cal have, namely a championship caliber field general whose talent and leadership could have produced more points.

    Btw the most disappointing #1 vs #2 remains the infamous 1966 matchup of Notre Dame vs Mich St, a 10-10 tie where ND played it cowardly safe in the final two minutes by sitting on the ball and settling for the tie which they rightly assumed would still keep them ranked at the top.

    LSU and Bama by contrast played to win down to the last play.

    top two teams matchup billed as Game of the Century remains the back and forth, down to the last minute thriller in 1971 between top ranked Nebraska and #2 Oklahoma.  Both teams fielded quality defenses but they weren't good enough to stop the other team's superior talent on offense -- the exact opposite of last night's game.  In the end it came down to which team would have the ball with enough time left -- Nebraska as it turned out.

    Maybe the most exciting reg season college game ever.  Though last week's Stanford vs Southern Cal nail biter comes close.

    A major classic.  But it doesn't quite qualify as a true GOTC because both teams didn't have perfect undefeated records going into the game.

    My first viewing of a college game probably would be a Rose Bowl ca 1960.  I also recall watching when the networks first introduced some fancy technology called Instant Replay ca fall 1963 during a game involving Navy.

    I'm also old enough to recall when ABC would televise the occasional Ole Miss game where the male cheerleaders would run out onto the field carrying a Confed bars and stars flag and their band would play Dixie.  Nothing was said about this by the announcers, iirc.

    temptations. I was living in the Island Colony for 1 year, on the 36th floor. I had a tiny, expensive studio, but the view of the ocean and Diamond Head were fanstastic. It was a nice lifestyle. My favorite thing, believe or not, was to walk to the shelter on the beach at Liliu'oKalani and play chess and go. Best board game club in the world!

    Had seen the movie and just put it on hold at library.  I was very fortunate to see Foote's trilogy, Orphans' Home Cycle.  Terrific theatre.  Either never knew or forgot Foote wrote the screen play for "To Kill a Mockingbird."

     You have to admire the republicans,for not throwing Cain under the bus.
