Perry Goes Birther

Via TPM, Perry does not even code his birther outreach:

[PARADE] Governor, do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the United States?

[PERRY:] I have no reason to think otherwise.

[PARADE} That’s not a definitive, “Yes, I believe he”—

[PERRY: ]Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate.

[PARADE]But you’ve seen his.

[PERRY:] I don’t know. Have I?

[PARADE:] You don’t believe what’s been released?

PERRY:]I don’t know. I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night. [. . .] That came up. [. . .] He doesn’t think it’s real.

[PARADE:] And you said?

[PERRY:] I don’t have any idea. It doesn’t matter. He’s the President of the United States. He’s elected. It’s a distractive issue.

Heh, distractive.

I don't think he's quite clever enough to be "reaching out."  I think he genuinely hasn't followed any of this carefully and doesn't know it'll all been crashingly debunked.

    I think you're a little naive.

But you also said, as I recall, that the choice of site and date of Beck's rally had nothing whatsoever to do with King's speech in the sixties..

Just because they're nutcase ideologues doesn't mean they don't talk to a lot of people, and don't have a clue about when and where possibly the most famous speech in the last fidfty years took place..

    Complete coincidence, eh?

Dye Rick Perry's hair white, and he could be Ted Baxter.

Hell, we know the birther nonsense holds appeal in some quarters, but I sure hope this isn't going into Trump-as-VP territory; I won't know whether to wet my pants laughing or sob with the realization that America really has gotten that dumb.

Oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably do both.

Aren't they sort of doing what John McLaughlin did why his "issue one: is Barak Obama a marxist?" queries? Planting meme-seeds to further a particular agenda in the guise of asking 'innocent questions'..

    to me.

Perry is simply saying that he is uncertain about where Obama was born because Obama hasn't seen Perry's birth certificate.

    What's the problem?

    Heck.

I'm not even sure where I was born because neither Perry nor Obama has seen my birth certificate.

In fact, if you really think about it, nobody knows where anybody was born - or even if they were actually born.

...edition given to Perry last month was, at the very least, skimmed through.

Perry has not been a bad governor, not exactly good from a liberal view, but for Texas he is not all bad.  Make that 'is' a 'was'.

It's why he looks like an idiot, his normal views are simply too far left for the base.  So now he's having to reconcile common sense with the views of the people he needs to vote for him,m which are quite frankly, crazy.

It's what happened to McCain, he's was decent guy until he got presidential aspirations, and now, like Perry will so be, a bad joke stripped of all principle by his own party.
