"The Tax Cuts I Fought For"

Via Daily Kos, the President of the United States said in his weekly radio address:

Now we’re seeing more optimistic economic forecasts for the year ahead, in part due to the package of tax cuts I signed last month. I fought for that package because, while we are recovering, we plainly still have a lot of work to do. The recession rocked the foundations of our economy, and left a lot of destruction and doubt in its wake.[. . .] Independent experts have concluded that, taken together, this package of tax cuts will significantly accelerate the pace of our economic recovery, spurring additional jobs and growth.

And that is our mission. That should be the focus, day in and day out, of our work in Washington in the coming months, as we wrestle with a challenging budget and long-term deficits. [. . .] The tax cuts and other progress we made in December were a much-needed departure from that pattern. Let’s build on that admirable example and do our part, here in Washington, so the doers, builders, and innovators in America can do their best in 2011 and beyond.

(Emphasis supplied.) Touting tax cuts and 'addressing the deficit' to spur the economy. Feels like 1981.

for those making $20,000 or less....because they've eliminated a tax credit they've given for the last 2 years.

...have nothing to do with those tax cuts. And as far as forecasts go, I don't know that I'd be counting on them to be right. These are forecasts from the same folks that didn't see a housing bubble, didn't see it popping, didn't see the issues with the banks, and didn't see a massive recession in the works. And there's still the issue of jobs.

As far as Obama himself, he keeps telling us what he is. I wonder when his supporters who deny what he is telling us will begin to believe him?

    Be happy.

He enabled rates on the wealthy and privileged to remain immorally and destructively low, that's really more like it.

Slap a bow tie on that moldy sandwich and you got yourself a five course meal.

    It's all in the sell.

    As in out.

against those tax cuts (Republicans holding middle class tax curs hostage etc.) before he fought for them.  But to be fair, he is using the language "package of tax cuts" which includes a payroll tax holiday and, especially, the estate tax bonanza (higher threshold and lower rates) as a sweetner that even surprised the Republican hostage-takers.  The later gift helped to make it a package worthy of a fight.

He always says "my experts" or "the experts" like he has no opinion of his own===oh wait...he does have no opinion or core beliefs of his own therefore all the talk about "the experts" say this or that.

the main talking points were that we had to set the table for 2012 and we lost cuz everybody quit after 2008.
