    I'm hoping... (5.00 / 2) (#1)
by MileHi Hawkeye on Fri Sep 24, 2010 at 09:03:55 PM EST
...that I'm feeling up to a little trip to the hills on Monday.  Hot Springs, aspen and maybe even a trip on the Royal Gorge Route.  And, hopefully, no crowds.

The New York strip was a good start to the weekend...

    Sending good wishes your way. (5.00 / 1) (#2)

Do you go to the hot springs near Mt Princeton? More or less on the way to the Royal Gorge. really pretty spot! Enjoy whatever you are up for.

I am kind of bummed that MPHS removed the roof over their big pool though.  It was nice for a very white person such as myself to have some shelter from ole' Mr. Sol while soaking.  However, they do have some nice river pools which should be open this time of year.  There is a certain something about sitting in the river with the rocks, mountains and trees and blue sky...

Otherwise, I go to a place West of Buena Vista.  Very similar to MPHS, but there are more man-made pool choices and a little shade in spots.

hope you make it out man...there is a certain something, and its nothin' but good for ya.

Saw your link, that AG candidate has some stones bucking the typical election season trend.  Hope he is rewarded.

On both counts!  It would be nice to get out of the house for an extended period and having an AG that actually represents the people and not the special interests for a change.

Off to Mexico next week, I see.  What do you and the SL have in mind this time (besides the obvious)?  Have a ball!  I got invited down right after Christmas--but I'm not sure how the whole work/vacation thing is going to play out.

Waves, sand, stars, hot tubs and contemplating the vastness of the ocean are nothing but good for ya' too though...

or the "kick the issue down the road" president.

In a move familiar to the Administration's kabuki on DADT, they are now claiming they need a year - a YEAR - to study whether birth control is a preventative health care treatment covered under the new health reform law. Although it will actually take longer than a year to decide that question:
    ...
Women's advocacy groups have pointed out that the year is bullsh!t. That there's plenty medical literature already out there on birth control (which isn't exactly new). But the year is important because it gives the opposition time to mount its campaign:
    ...
Now, I'm supposed to get my a$$ off my couch and go save them in November? Well, I need to study the issues. It's going to take me about a year to decide who to vote for. It's unfortunate for them that they need my vote before then, but this is an important decision and I want to make sure I have all of the information I need. Hear both sides. That it might hurt some Democrats now is unfortunate, but these are hard issues and I have a responsibility to listen to all sides so that I can make the best decision possible. I'm sure Obama and the Democrats will understand. These are hard times and everyone has to sacrifice. BDBlue-Corretewire

"it's going to take me about a year to decide who to vote for."  Not that this i a surprise from Obama, who is entirely all too predictable now.  But it still seems odd to see women voters, the majority of voters, so blatantly pushed back under the bus, again and again.

BDBlue really writes well. Wish she would comment here more often.

Wish we had a political party that was in actual opposition to the Republican Party agenda.

an allegedly ironclad belief in women's reproductive freedom wouldn't need a year - or even ten minutes - to weigh in with a position here.

Where BDBlue and I differ is that I don't need a year to study whether these yahoos are worthy of my vote: they aren't.  Period.

    No pun intended.

just spent the morning debating the health care bill with a bunch of conservatives who hate the bill because they are completely ignorant of the facts and now here we have people who don't like it either because they KNOW what is in the bill.

A new AP poll finds that Americans who think the law should have done more outnumber those who think the government should stay out of health care by 2-to-1.
    ...
The poll found that about four in 10 adults think the new law did not go far enough to change the health care system, regardless of whether they support the law, oppose it or remain neutral. On the other side, about one in five say they oppose the law because they think the federal government should not be involved in health care. AP

at the link.  Ah, it takes me back to wonderful times in Colorado amid what the locals there called "quaky aspen," shimmering in even a light breeze.

Fall color is coming early here, as are the daily maps that tell us where it is peaking, week by week.  Lucky me, I need only look out my window to know it's going to be a gorgeous autumn this year.

of being in Denver a few years ago at this time of year, strolling its downtown and turning a corner to find ourselves amid Oktoberfest there, but a few blocks from our conference.  Coming from a famously German town, we found it a hoot to go so far and end up dancing polkas in the streets to an oompah band -- which had been imported there from our town, too.
