Good Politics

Personally, I think Specter would have had a better chance to win the Pennsylvania Senate race than Joe Sestak, and I am positive Sestak is going to disappoint in terms of policy (he'll be a lot less progressive than the creative class thinks), but I have to tip my hat to the political operation running the Sestak campaign. Earlier I wrote about how Sestak is trying to make the campaign sort of a Bill Clinton v. George Bush referendum. Another nice feature of the Sestak campaign is to constantly refer to Toomey as "Congressman" Toomey (though Toomey is no longer in the Congress.) Sestak spends a lot of time talking about his naval career, instead of his time in Congress. This is smart politics. Via digby, Sestak's latest ad (funded by the DSCC) hits on Toomey's Wall Street career:

In a tough political environment for Dems and incumbents, Sestak's team is running a shrewd race. I thought he would get wiped out. But, against all odds, he is in the hunt. Nice campaign.

That's "progressive" and "creative class" (I mean, come on. There are creative people in every class.)

But for those who want to understand what happened to the once-proud D party 2006+ plus, reading Bowers's gruesome post on the "creative class," "Changing of the Guard", is an excellent starting point.

    ad. Still, it's not bad.

As for Sestak, he does have one of the best Dem media teams in the country. (Neil Oxman at the Campaign Group).

in my local newspaper mentioned this particular DSCC ad, and stated it was being broadcast 'state wide'. To date, in south central PA, I haven't seen it.

I continue to see ads from the Toomey campaign and supporting ads from the US Chamber of Commerce. Toomey ads have run non-stop, primarily on local TV broadcasters but also on local cable inserts, since late May.

It seems kind of odd since I saw Sestak ads non-stop  up until the primary. In my TV area at least, he outspent Specter by nearly 2:1.

the Sunday morning news shows, I can amend my post above. I've now see the ad above twice - once on a local NBC station and again on local cable insert during a CNN show.

It will be interesting to see with what frequency it runs.

this year.  I still think nov may not be a bleak as some are predicting.

a bit bleak possibly but not the end of the world.

to my assumption that Sestak is a stronger candidate than Specter would have been and he's proving me right with these kind of ads.
