NBA Finals Game 7 Open Thread

For a series that is going 7, this has been a nondescript and uninteresting series. Perhaps it has do with not having a rooting interest (dislike both teams.) But I've watched the games and they have simply been boring.

The other problem for me is I detest the announcers, particularly Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. My gawd are they awful.

I suppose the Lakers will probably win tonight. I can't say that I care much either way.

    As oil continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico, just one of many manifestations of perilous ecological degradation across the planet, the need to challenge war and militarism - especially in terms of the United States - becomes ever-more pressing. The U.S. military is the world's single biggest consumer of fossil fuels, and the single entity most responsible for destabilizing the Earth's climate...

    The Pentagon devours about 330,000 barrels of oil per day (a barrel has 42 gallons), more than the vast majority of the world's countries. If the U.S. military were a nation-state, it would be ranked number 37 in terms of oil consumption - ahead of the likes of the Philippines, Portugal, and Nigeria - according to the CIA Factbook.

    Another TruthOut story, from June 17/10, "Kick Ass or Buy Gas", reveals that BP is the Pentagon's biggest supplier of petroleum. All well worth the read.

    LA--usually post game--features Michael Cooper and Lisa Leslie.....She's great and really puts Cooper in his place.

    I miss him whenever I watch the Lakers. Here are some Chickisms.

    My favorite was always 'This game is in the refrigerator....the eggs are cooling and the butter's getting hard.' when the Lakers got a big lead.

    I got a LONG email saying I was owed money from a class-action suit against Expedia---something about hotel taxes.
    It's the right email address for my Expedia account, but it wasn't from Expedia.
    There were lots of instructions for how to collect my $3.06.
    I'm just puzzled, because who would write a "phish" with 3 dollars as the prize?
    Is it possible the email was legitimate?

    Or twice in the series? in Orlandonot is normal because there is a little girl they consider a lucky charm. She sings at multiple home games per series. frankly it is getting old!

    I'm just sittin here minding my own damn business, trying to ignore Larry King on....and just don't.  Ben Stein's comment about the BP situation has something to do with what we are making BP do being Unconstitutional.  Ben Stein asks, "Are Brown Pelicans more important than the Constitution?"  He says he doesn't think so.

    Sometimes, like during the World Cup and baseball season, I wish I had cable. Mostly though, I am so glad that my channel surfing never lands me on Larry King or Chris Matthews or anyone on Fox.

    It's a trainwreck.  I'm transfixed.  He continues to argue that it is Unconstitutional for the President to strong arm vs. having Congress pass laws that would make BP pay up and be responsible.  But Ben thinks it is fine for the President to strong arm whatever brown people he or she may feel he or she needs to strong arm, we already know that about him.  Any ole Pretzelnit can threaten Iran till hello freezes over without Congressional approval.  What a hypocrite!  What an insane coo coo nutbag.

    TV--no Lakers/Celtics, no Larry King.  Pick up a good book.  I just started "Wolf Hall," a novel by Hilary Mantel.  Won the Booker Prize.  Excellent.

    I listened to it in audiobook, and it was very well done by the narrator. It was so well written though, that i think I will get it from the library at some point and read it too.

    But relax, the zebras ain't calling nothin' tonight, for the most part. It's gonna be a bloodbath.  And right now, the Celts look like the team used to game seven pressure, we don't. Still early, but I don't like how tight we look.

    This is what you get when the refs let too much stuff on both ends go uncalled. The players then know they can hack it up, and you get a high school score. Makes no sense. As if in Game 7 of the World Series if you got hit by a pitch, they'd just say suck it up, you don't get the base.

    ...that this is the ugliest game in game seven history, I can't help you.  They're letting all the non-shooting stuff go, a lot of the shooting fouls too. Both teams are losing points. But look at the score. It's disgraceful. Just a boxing match. No excuse for it but zebras "letting them play."

    FML.  Oh well, good series, disagree with BTD it's been... intense - but then I had a rooting interest.

    And to top it off I pulled both hamstrings and both quads trying to play soccer cold tonight because I got stuck in traffic and was late for the game.  So I can barely walk, AND the celtics lost.

    Team USA better win tommorow or I am done with sports.

    ... maybe not, but still, they better win.

    Lakers couldn't sink a basket if it was full of rocks for the entire first half, then in the 2nd half the Celtics threw bricks like they were wearing  name badges and orange aprons.

    Pretty much all about defense. Done and done. Yay!

    I'm up early for the big FIFA game tomorrow. Rise to the occasion you mo fo's!

    And to celebrate, lakers fans beat each other and torch cars. LA declared a state of riot within minutes of the end of the game.

    Top LAPD officials had vowed to do things differently this year and relied, in part, on a strategy of keeping large groups from roaming the area around Staples Center.

    As the Lakers battled the Celtics in the first half, crowds began to form at the Nokia Theatre plaza across from Staples Center.

    Witnesses said the LAPD was quick to respond when the throng began to grow.

    Our new Orlando stadium is built with the goal of drawing crowds to the area. That should go well.
