Boulder City Council Bans Offical Travel to Arizona

Cheers to Boulder, Colorado. The city council has suspended official travel to Arizona in protest of its immigration law:

The city of Boulder will immediately suspend sending any employees to Arizona on business, and may take additional action against the state, in a show of opposition to its wide-reaching new immigration law.

City Manager Jane Brautigam on Wednesday morning sent a memo to all department directors ordering them to cancel any plans to travel to Arizona for conferences or other city business, even if the tickets have been paid for.

“This action is being taken to demonstrate our opposition to Arizona's new public policy, embodied in recent legislation, to require documentation for all persons who may be suspected of being in that state without official status or approval,” Brautigam wrote. “Such a policy is contrary to our organization's commitment to diversity and is a violation of our core values.”

And, that's not all: [More...]

The city will compile a list of all of the companies and agencies with ties to Arizona that the city does business with - including Colorado companies with offices in Arizona.

The list of business interests will be turned over to the Human Relations Commission, which will recommend additional actions that the city could take to oppose Arizona's immigration law.

Pass the idea on to your city council. Maybe it will become a trend.

Good for them. Of course, Boulder is a lefty paradise and was once (before it got insanely expensive) a haven for hippies.

    Remember this?:

A Boulder woman who was threatened with eviction last spring for gardening outside while wearing nothing but pasties and a thong took her au naturel look to the next level Wednesday, causing a stir with neighbors and police.

Catharine Pierce, 52, took advantage of the nice weather by toplessly tending to her gardens in the front and back yards of her home in the 800 block of Cherry Avenue in north Boulder.

to Boulder some years ago. glad to see some lefty clout still going on.
"I have more important concerns for my kids (than a topless neighbor)" said one respondent. Love the attitudes.
