American Idol: Crystal or Lee?

Update: Crystal by miles. She soared. Text 5702. (Put "vote" in the message box.)You have four hours.

The final showdown on American Idol between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze begins tonight. The winner will be announced tomorrow night.

Who should win? Who will win? Will you vote?

I'm torn, Crystal and Lee are my two favorites of the season. From a talent only perspective, although I think Lee is great, I think Crystal should win. From the perspective of who fits better as the "next American Idol," I think Lee prevails. I guess I'll vote for both.

Simon and Randy think Lee will win. It's all viewer-vote determined though, so they may or may not be right. I think the young female vote will go to Lee, which could easily put him over the top. But Crystal's fanbase may come out of the woodwork, so who knows?

Speaking of Simon, these are his final shows. He's definitely been my favorite judge. While Paula's leaving didn't phase me, I'm having a hard time picturing AI without Simon.

Questions for the general assembly... (none / 0) (#1)

Who were all the other contestants; when were they voted off and why did they get the boot; who did you like best along the way and why; at this stage, who do you want to win and why?

I'm a blank slate when it comes to American Idol. I do love myself some Project Runway and ANTM though.

    Crystal. (none / 0) (#2)

He is the only one who can be counted on to tell the hard truths, and the other judges generally leave that dirty work to him (and then act shocked, shocked when he says what they all know is true).

Worst thing about this season: the unanimous "save" of Big Mike, who was utterly boring and should have gone home weeks before he was first voted off. The judges should have saved that "save" for Siobhan Magnus, imo.

1 to go, Crystal is miles ahead.

Who's idea were those stairs? That she managed to negotiate them in those heels while singing was remarkable.

Her version of Me and Bobby McGee is worth buying. It's what sold me on her at the series beginning.

    Lee is too nervous.

    Round 3 coming up.

She does Janis extremely well (none / 0) (#8)

There's a video of her performing in a bar pre-Idol that will just knock your (Bower)sox off.

    It's here.  Great bassist too.

I'm now on the west coast and still adjusting to you knowing what's up before me :) so tomorrow night, can we have a no spoilers thread?

I won't even talk about what this time zone is doing to my fantasy baseball teams. Games start at freakin' 10AM, OY!

is that this time AI ended up with two actual artists as finalists, not the usual schlockmeisters.

I hope Crystal wins. But whoever wins, I hope s/he doesn't have to sing "This Is My Now."
