Broncos Pick Tebow

I get to put this in the "Colorado News" section. As I have stated repeatedly, though I live and die with the Gators, Tim Tebow does not have the skills to be a good NFL QB. The Broncos made a mistake here imo.

That said, picking Tebow is certainly better than picking the most overrated player in this draft - Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen. While it is conceivable that Tebow can be made into a good NFL QB, in my view, Clausen has no upside. He is as good as he will ever be, and that is not even conceivably good enough.

Sam Bradford, assuming the medical issues are settled, is not only a good pick because he was by far the best QB prospect, he was the best player in the draft (better than Suh, Berry and McCoy.) 3 Gators were picked in the 1st round, Tebow at 25, CB Joe Haden at 7 by the Browns and Maurkice Pouncey at 18 by the Steelers. Pouncey is a sure thing. Haden was picked too high, but I love him.

I'll make this an Open Thread.

by MKS on Fri Apr 23, 2010 at 03:14:40 PM EST
It really is a shame.....The oceans are fragile....not as endless as people think.

It is only the first 300-400 hundred feet that contain the sea life that we are familiar with.

And it really is in the first 200 feet or so where sun and ocean meet that the miracle of life is created--where photosynthesis occurs and the plankton live and the food chain begins.

There is no place else like it in the universe.  Scientists turn cartwheels when they find microsopic ice on other planets.  Water is life and it is such a thin layer that covers the earth.

....I'll go watch the draft now....

you jest!  At least as to off the field exploits.

Of course, if somehow TT can shed some of the holier-than-thou stuff and stop proselytizing for his peculiar version of Jesus and start acting more like a Horning or Namath (but not Roethlisberger), then I might actually start rooting for the Broncos again.  Not gonna happen though.

On the field, I just don't see Tebow as quite the nimble and versatile run-pass threat that Golden Boy Horning was.  He's too big and while not slow, not that quick either.

If he loses 25-30 lbs, maybe he can come close to some Steve Young scrambling ability, though he'll still be well short of Young's throwing ability and short of Michael Vick's quickness and speed combination.

the Ravens would draft at 25, when it was announced that we had traded our pick to Denver, for Demver's 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks.  At first, I thought that was insane, but then I realized that when we acquired Anquan Boldin from Arizona, we gave up a 3rd and 4th round pick for him - so getting Denver's picks in those rounds, higher up the board than what our own would have been, essentially means we ended up acquiring Boldin for our 1st round pick.

Ozzie Newsome, the Ravens GM, said that the deal with Denver was so good that they would not have passed it up even if the Cowboys had not taken Dez Bryant.

Pending Baltimore's picks, the final word isn't in on which team made the better decision, but at this stage it looks to me like the Ravens come out on top.  If I were a Denver fan, I'd be wondering what the heck McDaniels was thinking...

It was my sense when I left Denver that the Broncos were starting to become the Cubs of the NFL. The fan base is so loyal that the team does not have to win anymore to do well financially. All they have to do is pump popular players through the system. Tebow will be a big hit with 'the base' even if he barely plays.

My non-legal take...in American justice, anything is possible when it comes to draconian sentences.  Little common sense or decency to be found.

I have a hard time believing its even a crime myself...of course it ain't cool or righteous to hack into an email account, but if your password is that easy to figure out, isn't that a "fool me once, shame on me"?
