You could always stop paying insurance and then pick it up again if you get really sick.  I can pay for lots of doctor's visit every month in what I pay for insurance.  Then if I get something really bad, insurance company has to take me back.  It might be cheaper than the increases in my payments.

risk pool will pass on the "cadillac tax" to me, so that means an additional $3,000 + increase coming this year and that's only if it doesn't cancel it all together because of the tax plus now I'll have less to deduct on my tax return which helps offset my $16,000 yearly premiums! Seems the big paychecks in medical care may actually start to come down the way web design and programmers have, though.

I have found it interesting over these past couple of years where medical jobs have been advertised in growing demand. Yet, the two multi-week stays my mother had in the hospital, the understaffing was on purpose...brand new remodeled, modern facility in the heart of a highly populated area had more empty rooms than filled. And, I've heard recently that is true at more than one area hospital. I also met nurses who were freelancing as homecare because they couldn't find jobs.

where my son works goes into effect this week -- part of wider cuts throughout the company, a huge one with dozens of hospitals and clinics, part of an even larger regional health care corporation.

Now, how does that accord with this statement tonight from the Speaker that this bill will create jobs?  Wouldn't a huge health care corporation know that HCR was coming?  If it is going to be so good for hiring . . . huh?

that's for sure. I can see where it could create jobs in everything from shipping to physicians, but it doesn't mix with what I've seen in the downsizing and understaffing locally in the medical providers part over the past 2 years.

at least it is for the nurses we put through their paces.  Joshua will be a hospital resident for at least two months next year when he goes through a period of gravity halo traction.  We will be putting more than a few people through it then because this whole new portion of the titanium rib process will be starting up from scratch...wedding an older process and procedure to a brand new treatment.  That should be some more plumb crazy for everyone it is inflicted on :)  Only the insanely brave and forever tireless need apply.
