Outed?  I guessed that the men doing the mocking of the gentleman with Parkinsons would be outed.  If you look at the video, the man nastily tossing money is holding a sign.  'AFP'  AFP is Americans for Prosperity.  Tweety just had Tim Phillips of AFP on.  It was a good piece by Tweety.  Phillips was very flustered when Tweety kept pushing at TP and how TP had no ideas to help the gentleman get insurance.

Still waiting for the guys to get identified by name.

I could give you a detailed rundown on my final two but rather than blather endlessly about two teams that are more likely to lose today than advance, my final relies on a three point shooting team waking up and lighting it up along with a defensive specialist team from a school with about the same number of undergrads as their average SAT score...I'll also need to find a genie in a bottle.

I'm confident I'm the only bracket in the country with this. Book it, the final will be the Florida Gators vs the Wofford Terriers.

by Capt Howdy on Thu Mar 18, 2010 at 01:11:37 PM EST
We just got the Congressional Budget Office score. The legislation's total price tag is $940 billion over 10 years, and it reduces the deficit by $130 billion over 10 years and $1.2 trillion over the next 10 years.  This news means that we'll likely have a final vote on Sunday at noon ET. The CBO report was seen as potentially the last thing standing in the way of passage. We're told that the White House and House Dem leaders are fewer than five votes away from 216, after Dennis Kucinich's no-to-yes switch yesterday and pro-life Dem Dale Kildee saying that he's ok with the Senate bill's abortion language. On-the-fence House Democrats like retiring Rep. Brian Baird, who voted no on last year's House bill, have been saying they need to see the CBO score -- and a good score. Baird, as the Washington Post writes, "said he stands by what he told Obama: He still needs to see the specifics of the new House bill, including a forthcoming analysis from the Congressional Budget Office."

    Republicans are Irrelevant

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said Thursday that all House Republicans are planning to go to the Rules Committee in an effort to amend the healthcare reform bill.

The move could significantly delay a final vote on healthcare reform.

During an appearance on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" show, Sessions noted that members are allowed to go to the Rules panel to make the case for amendments on the House floor.

The Rules Committee is likely to reject most, if not all, GOP amendments. But the process of every House Republican member trying to make the case for various amendments, if allowed, would be time-consuming.

Sessions, who heads the National Republican Congressional Committee,  noted that he thinks C-SPAN employees will be working overtime during the Rules Committee deliberations.

Sessions's comments are consistent with Minority Leader John Boehner's (R-Ohio) vow to do everything he can to thwart the healthcare measure.

I truly believe some people are just born lucky when it comes to gambling, and others of us are not. I have a friend (a woman) who doesn't know that much about sports but routinely wins every time she enters a pool, for anything. She gets lucky at Keno and Atlantic City, too; heck, she won $100 at our local Knights of Columbus "casino night" charity. I never win anything, except I have a curious knack for always picking the Triple Crown winners...which is probably just as well since knowing I'll lose is probably what keeps me from developing a hardcore gambling habit.

breaks down an Obama vs. Scott Brown basketball game, with Scott and his daughter vs. Obama and a UConn player.

Honestly - it would probably be a really good game.  I'd probably have to put my money on Obama though.  Mostly due to his teammate.

I have a hard time with brackets.  I don't like rooting against teams I like, and I like underdogs.  I prefer the "want to win" over the "thinks will win" bracket.  For me it goes down like this #1 picks - regional schools.  This usually ends pretty quickly for me, go Vermont!  #2 - Pitt, since I went to school in Pitt, although not at Pitt.  #3 - the schools of people I am friends with, in order of how much I like that person (easier to rank friends than teams).  And finally, when nothing is on the line, and no one in my vicinity cares, I go for the underdog.

Needless to say, I don't often win these things.  But it makes rooting for teams more fun.

    I'd hate to see a UConn (none / 0) (#64)

player have the only loss of her career be in a 2 on 2 game with some pols. Probably would not happen though. I don't know anything about Scott Brown's daughter, but she would have to be a heck of a player to pull off a win in that situation.

I agree about the brackets. I stopped picking for those reasons. Now I root for my cubicle mate to win the pool she is in.

If villanova had lost she would have been in big trouble, so we were sweating that one out.

falls in category 3 for me, so I was rooting for the friend to get the win.

It seems like Scott's bb credentials are > than Obama's, but yea, it's hard for even a good college player to go up against essentially the best female college basketball player there is.

himself to the fence.  I thought it was a very bad choice.  Then I got a call from a friend who knew more, and read the diary at Orange.  So they are tossing him out, and President Obama has flagged that he isn't really committed to overturning DADT.  So Choi and some Capt have completely shot their status quo careers in the A$$ in order to actually fight.  I'm so ashamed of the rest of us.  We were promised healthcare reform and we got screwed and now we sit around justifying how we failed ourselves this badly.  When I heard what Choi did I thought to myself, kid...there is no turning back from here. I did not know that they were already giving him the boot though, he knows there is no turning back now.  He will fight.  Shame on the rest of us candy a$$e$.

during the AIDs panic in the 80s someone I know from ACTUP handcuffed himself to Robert McNeil from PBS.

everyone freaked.  totally over the line, they said.  he said he and McNeal had a very pleasant conversation while they waited to be separated.

even though in this country its arrival allowed certain people to claim it was not so....I shudder how bad the epidemic would be without the gay community leading the way.  We Hetros are so fecked up about sexuality....we ain't marching anywhere loud and proud :)  We can barely deal with the fact that every human being we see means someone got laid :)

which the right hoped would destroy the gay community instead transformed it into a political force.  the repercussions of which are still being felt today.

it was an amazing time to be alive and active.  so many heros.

Much to the detrement of my bracket.

Still, 3 up and 1 down (so far) isn't a bad day.

...were one of my sentimental (my nephew is a grad), sleeper choices.  A fine day so far, but I need Baylor to pick it up in the 2nd half.

These first round wins are important since the majority of my pool has Kansas winning it all (playing against Kentucky).  I have Kansas too, but have them playing Duke (with a win over KY in the Final 4) in the Final.  Every point counts!

...after the first day of play--not too shabby. Only missed on Georgetown and Vandy.  Just goes to show that those East Coast teams are not to be trusted!  We'll see how the Big 11 does today.

Lots of exciting, close games yesterday.  Exactly how the first round should be.

Dadler's Aztec's came awful close to pulling the upset.  Who knew that Steve Fisher was still coaching?
