iPhone May Get Live TV Via 3G
What could give AT&T's sagging 3G network, the iPhone and the iPad a boost? Equipping them to use the SlingPlayer Mobile App that works with a Slingbox on the 3G network, not just wireless. And it looks like it's happening. Here's the skinny.
I don't have a SlingBox, but my dentist does, and I've been playing with it when I go to his office for a couple of years. It works well. It's a box you plug into your cable tv at home, and when you are anywhere else, you can watch it on your phone, change the channels, watch programs you've TIVO'd, etc. [More...]
I think it will be a big deal. The millions of us who bought the iPhone when it first launched are coming to the end of our 2 year contracts with AT&T. Because of their spotty service, lots of people, me included, have been waiting before re-signing up, and thinking about switching to Verizon for the Nexus One or Sprint for its G4 or T-Mobile. I'm on the fence, but I think I'm waiting for the promised new iPhone 4G that's due in a few months.
Question: Is it too late for AT&T and 3G when everyone else is moving to 4G?
Ok, I so want a slingbox now.
