Bloomberg : Obama Should Tell Liberals: "Suck It Up"

Here's New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on "Meet the Press" today, answering a question about how President Obama should deal with an angry liberal base over the tax cut deal:

MAYOR BLOOMBERG: He says, "Look, this is what I did, this is the best I can do. Suck it up, and let's get on together. We have a lot of other things that we can do together."

Bloomberg also categorically rejected the idea of running for President.

He directly benefits from the deal.  I'd love to see him run for President just to watch him blow some of his billions.

and it's not fit for a family audience.

Oh, and who doesn't believe this guy IS running for president? Let us not forget: this is the guy who vowed he would follow the term limits set for NYC mayors, and then turned around and mob-punched the council into giving him another term.

seems to serve him well.  When most were wondering why Bloomberg was still spending so much money on his 2009 campaign since he was a "sure thing", his own polls showed it to be necessary since a win was not going to be that easy.  Bloomberg did win with 50.7 percent of the vote over the under-funded Bill Thompson (48.3 percent).  Moreover, the bluff relied on the aura inevitability and the accompanying low voter turnout. And, indeed, he did win with fewer votes than any successful candidate since women joined the electorate in 1917 (cf. Wikipedia). Suck it up, indeed.

I honestly believe he turned around and ran for Mayor again because he believed his "special circumstances" argument. He knows he can't get elected President and would only help the Repbulicans. He's a practical man. He won't run.

Look, this is what I did, this is the best I can do . . .

if that's the best he can do, why on earth would liberals want to suck it up and work together with him going forward on things like, say, tax reform, compromising SS etc. . . .?

    Of course not ... (none / 0) (#18)

it is much better than liberals to sulk in quiet or screaming in rage.

Try to really do some work .... not required.

In fact, better to stay home in the next election or risk being disappointed again.

how can the liberals suck it up and work together with Obama when he bypasses them and goes straight to the Republicans (and others, see HIR) making advance deals?

There's only one political party in this country:
The Property Party.  It has two wings.  Rs and Ds.

This from the man who had his panties in a wad over Obama's trip to NYC without being informed; and Murdoch wikileaking that he described Obama as the most "arrogant man" he had ever met.

    Suck it up Bloomy.

    is this guy on?

We have a lot of other things that we can do together.

    1.  Never did do anything together

    2.  With the GOP controlling the House in 3 weeks what could possibly be accomplished that any sensible person can accept?

Nothing the Congress and President can do in the next two years could possibly harm Bloomberg.  Unfortunately that's note case for the overwhelming majority of the people in this country.

Then he needs to be replaced!  He should have come out swinging, advocating for higher taxes for the billionaires who are investing in China, India, Brazil and Germany.  I mean higher than 39.6 with a top tax bracket at 55%.

However, we know what Obama is from everything he's done or not done and everything he's said.

I just heard that schmuck Howard Dean defend Obama and how we shouldn't look to knock him out.  Howard Dean was the one who said it was OK for Obama to have Reagan fantasies after that very telling interview with the Reno Gazette in Jan 2008.

It is amazing how effing stupid Democrats can make themselves be by trying to justify the tax cuts, the very thing than put us in a $14 trillion dollar hole and unable to spend our way out of recession, to think they will now save us.
