Sunday Football Open Thread

I went 3-0 (Saints (-7), Over (57) in the Saints game, Colts (-6.5)) yesterday and am now 6-1 in the NFL playoffs. In less than an hour, the Cowboys and Vikings kick off in the Metrodome. I like the Vikes (-3) and the Over (44.5). In the late game, I like the Jets (+7) and the Under (42.5).

At SportsLeft, Tim Tebow, Anti-Choice Republican, is the new topic of discussion.

This is an Open Thread.

We had Joshua's bday party yesterday.  Went to a funland type center and I had to keep steering the kids away from the games of chance.  Would rather pay for them to play video games than keep collecting tickets from the gambling games for prizes.  I even took them all up to the front too, and we all looked at the prizes and everyone agreed there wasn't anything there that they wanted.  I still had to steer kids aways from the games of chance a couple of times though, one won a "bonus" of some kind and got 30 tickets.  He was very excited until I asked him what he wanted up front that he would buy with them :)

New season starts Mon. the 25th. I just set my TiVo.

New cast members this season: Lily Tomlin, Martin Short, and a favorite of mine, Campbell Scott. The ad I saw suggested a plot revolving around a family run Wall Street firm.

Can't wait to see Glenn Close and Lily Tomlin spar.

And let's hope Rose Byrne had a few cheeseburgers during the hiatus so we can watch her without cringing.

I think this has been a pretty crappy playoffs thus far. How many teams have just laid giant eggs?  Cincy, Pats, Iggles, Cards, Cowgirls...DOn't think BAL really gagged, they were just exposed as one-dimensional on O when behind(and gee hasn't the luster worn off Joe Unibrow in a hurry?)...

I just want to see "one" game where a) the score is close and competitive, and b) both teams play relatively well. Hasn't happened, but there's still one game left today.

And having said thatn - the SD FG kicker lays one.

I'll win ugly rather than lose pretty everytime.

And it was lookin' ugly to start...very lucky to be down only 7 at the half...but the defense did a great job of bending without breaking, while the Chargers killed themselves with dumb penalties. How many personal fouls?  3? 4?

Then Rivers crumbled, Sanchez finds Keller, The Shonn Greene Machine busts one, Rex shows off his big brass ones and goes for it on the 4th and 1, and thats all she wrote.  Onto Indy to see if in fact we are a team of destiny...I don't know but it's startin' to get tingly:)

Don't know how they'll do next week, but they've given me a good bang for my buck so far. And Sanchize is showing some good skills under pressure. Gotta love the D for holding SD to 7 in the first half.

As happy as I am for him, I'm as sad for my other homeboy, Nate Kaeding.  Never would have thought a Hawkeye would be the hero and the goat in the same game.

Hell yeah it was fun to watch Rivers crumble...you see him going nuts on the refs after Revis's stupendous pick?  He never recovered really...not long after that he threw a perfect pass to little Jim Leonhard, and that was the turning point right there.  So much for the win streak and the 20+ points streak Phillip...ha ha!

Yeah, I saw the big jerk go all Philip Rivers on that pick.  Wah, Wah, Wah.  The way he floated that interception to Leonhard was a thing of beauty and epic fail too.

The Jets are the only non-dome team (i.e., play real football) left now and the ultimate underdog--a combination that's hard to root against.
