Afternoon Delight in Denver Tomorrow on Health Care

Via Firedoglake, I see the "teabaggers" will be out in force tomorrow at a health care event being conducted at a medical clinic for the homeless by Colorado Reps. Diana DeGette and Jared Polis, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. More details here.

I'll be attending, so if you're in the neighborhood, come on down.

Nancy Pelosi, Jared Polis and Diana DeGette will be at Denver’s Stout Street Clinic Tomorrow.

When: August 6, 2009, Time: 2:00 PM
Where: Stout Street Clinic
2100 Broadway, Denver, CO

Speaker Pelosi and Members of the Colorado Delegation will see firsthand how the economic recovery funds are being used to offer vital health care services, create jobs, and lay the foundation for health insurance reform,” DeGette’s office said Wednesday in a statement.

Pelosi also plans to use the Denver visit to stump for the health-care reform measure that passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee, of which DeGette is vice chair, last Friday.

Rep. DeGette played a key role in brokering the compromise between the Blue Dog Democrats and Progressives that ensured the passage of H.R. 3200, the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act, Friday night by the Committee on Energy and Commerce.

As to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless:

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children and individuals throughout Colorado.

And if you're working during the day, Rep. DeGette is holding a telephone town hall tomorrow evening. You can participate from your home phone:

Finally, I would like to invite you to join me for a telephone town hall this Thursday, August 6 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (MDT) on health care reform. To receive a telephone call immediately before the call is to take place, please visit my Web site and submit your contact information. I look forward to hearing your questions about the health insurance reform pending before Congress.

...I just can't imagine the party of no! folks being all too comfortable in that neighborhood or with the clients the Clinic serves.

Anyhoo, I really like the quiet, behind-the-scenes work that Rep. DeGette has put forth on this issue.  Unlike a certain freshman Rep from Boulder.

for those that may need the clinic or want to get info. They will be more than happy to go disrupt services and abuse the clients. Look at what they do at women's clinics . . .

I should check the free clinic not to far from me and see if anything is going on in the near future. May need to lend support . . .

...there's a gay bar near by, a bus station that caters exclusively to people going to Mexico and back and a park well know for its drug use/dealing.

The homeless, gays, "illegal aliens" and the addicted.  Plenty of things they have no respect for.

A little push-back against these people would be a very good thing, IMO.

Wish I could be there with you, but I'm a few too many thousand miles away.  Rep. Welch is having a town hall coming up, and I'll be interested to see how that goes.  Even diehard conservative Vermonters generally don't go for this kind of crap, but like the first pass at civil unions, this is the kind of issue that does tend to bring the nutjobs out all at once.

    Not a "town hall" meeting. (none / 0) (#12)

Teabaggers left outside on the street, intermingled with HCR supporters.

NP refers to CO as CA at one point.
