Congratulations to bloggers Chris Bowers (Open Left) and Natasha Chart who got married today.

Political adviser Joe Trippi has an apology up for having blogged without disclosing some of his professional relationships. It's very personal and more than he should have had to explain. I've always liked Joe, more than most of the candidates he represents, I hope this is a non-issue that blows over like yesterday.

Stupid article of the week: The New York Times has a Reefer Madness-type scare article in tomorrow's paper about the dangers of legalization of marijuana. One "marijuana addict" is quoted as saying smoking pot was "a slow form of suicide."

That he would therefore veto the current House bill? Because under that bill, the vast majority of people, including all people who work for employers who employ more than 10 people and offer private, for profit health insurance plans,are excluded from the exchanges. In other words, this is an option that is not an option for most of the public. So, surely this goes against Obama's principles, right?
And hopefully those ads will run in San Francisco too, since Pelosi at this point also seems to approve of leegislation opposing a public option for the public.
It's also curious that McJoan neglected to mention that in her roundup.

I think now that the humidity has set in for the summer (yesterday s*cked!!), I need to rid myself of 18-24" of hair. I'm debating boy short or just long enough to pull up. . . . can't decide if cut hair should go to a kid's charity or a breast cancer one . . . I may be doing coin flips on length and charity very soon . . .

And for the record, my nails/fingers are colorful (as are several kitchen towels!). Made blueberry mash syrup for my blueberry/yogurt pops. Black raspberry mash for something. Just can't decide if I want to enjoy it as is topping something or make it into a frozen desert like a sorbet/ice cream. My pastry class isn't for a couple weeks, so that's out unless I can or freeze it. I also made a sugar plum mash. Half will go into a vinaigrette, the other half, something sweet or perhaps savory, lol!~ I'm still patting myself on the back for not inhaling the sugar plums on the way home. Oh, and the orchard gave us some of their honey with our fruit this week, so I used that in place of the bit of sugar I would have used. Their honey ROCKS.

bald man, I am envious of the hair problem. My currently problem is what to do with the remaining hair on the top of my head. It is sparse, but it is still there a bit. (I do have hair on the sides and back). I could let it grow like the other hair, and it looks like I am trying to do a "comb-over". Trim it really short and it grows straight up and looks silly.

and hip solution for thinning hair is to BUZZ it really short - even shorter than a military cut - so it looks more like a 5 o'clock shadow.
Bruce Willis (I'm not a big fan) just totally SHAVED his head for a very racy W Magazine shoot with his new wife, who's a lingerie model - he's never looked better, imo. I'm not linking to it here but, if anybody's curious, it's easy to find.

textured bob. If you want it to feel shorter, you can pin it back/put it behind your ears. In any case it's off your neck and the heat is no longer such an issue! I'm super happy with mine and at any rate if you have a good hairdresser he/she will know what to do...so you hardly have to worry about it ;)

Plus if you don't cut it too short you can put it in a ponytail, so ALL the hair is off your face and neck. It works overtime for me at least.

even with Vet drugs you have to have your papers in order. I never knew price varied so much with drugs until my vet told me to do some research on the cancer drug I needed. Also learned how internet ordering worked :)

As a CA gal, the opening to that article kinda cracked me up. Oh, those wacky Californians.

How far in advance would one need to check into it?
While, if all goes well, I should be carrying my client load to CA, it's still a tad nerve wracking thinking about moving there with their unemployment and other "issues". Growers wouldn't have to worry about me as I'm a "non-smoker". Vineyards are my choice of field, lol!~

My understanding (based on a story in politickerny.com) is that he wrote a couple of diaries saying how great Maloney would be to run for the Senate without disclosing the fact that he had received a check for $10.5K from Maloney before posting these.

so I'm guessing the reason is there. Don't know where Brown is on animals, but medical and animals can cause some big problems with over-the-top-sorts. And CA is def with a full platter there. I'll have to ask some of my CA animal/political sorts if something is up.

There's been some pushes by animal rights folks in CA on laws like MSN etc that I've been keeping an eye on. Yank is still a "full" boy and is staying that way until I decide. Same with any animal I get/own. Period. My decision, not theirs'. Then there's the "testing" line between medical research and other that causes issues with "animal people".

I went to see The National here in Minneapolis on Thursday evening. I had a couple albums and liked the music generally, but must say, I was extremely impressed. That is some very good music. Just thought I would share.

I'm no shrink, but it sounds like Joyce simply needs some friends and to get out more. Easy to blame the reefer, the booze, or other dope when you're not crazy about your life...but I suspect there is something else going on at the root of the unhapiness...specifically loneliness. My advice would be to invite the cute guy working at the record store over for some rippers, get laid, and call me in the morning...I'd bet you will feel a whole lot better about things after that script:)

My diagnosis aside, if you wanna quit, quit. Don't be a pawn for prohibitionists in the NY Times to keep our kind criminals...thats just lame.

Some people with mental health problems self medicate with whatever they can.
The odds of a positive outcome are low. So: depression + no proven treatment + self medication usually means ongoing depression with a possibility of substance abuse and dependence complications.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could get mental health care on demand? Including addiction treatment of course - but addiction is usually preceded by other mental health problems.
An ounce of prevention is a helluva lot cheaper than months of inpatient rehab.
