Friday Night Open Thread: Go Nuggets!

It's LA 9, Denver 7 at the commercial break. Update: Oh-Oh, LA up by 13 at half time. Update: Lakers crush the Nuggets. Oh well, there's always next year.

I only found out there was a game 10 minutes ago while I was barbecuing, which I've always been very afraid to do alone. Sure enough, the food was done, the flames were high, the grill was smoking and I turned it off, but the flame wouldn't go out.

After 5 minutes, I finally called the TL Kid (who usually does the grilling) to ask what to do, and he was at the Nuggets game. I'm sure he loved getting my distress call. He knew just what to do (turn the knob the other way to "off" -- I had it turned to "low".) An all grill dinner: Hamburger, vidalia onion, asparagus and mushroom caps. And I didn't have to call the Fire Department. (I bet they also are watching the game and would not have been thrilled to hear from me.)

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

Why hasn't there been any discussion about Davis Boies and THEODORE OLSON teaming up to challenge the constitutionality of Prop. 8?

They claim that Prop. 8 "violates gay's fundamental right to marriage, and it violates  their right to equal protection under the federal Constitution. The basis of their charge is that Prop 8 was passed out of "animus towards a politically unpopular group," and thus they were denied equal protection.

And to the cynics out there,  Boies vouched for Olson as "committed in heart and soul to equality and committed in heart and soul to the Constitution."

They were on LKL the other night (none / 0) (#4)

some free advice (you don't want to know what my billable rate is! :)): next time you can't get the flame to go out, simply turn off the gas supply (that big metal tank on the side of your grill); no gas, no flame. it works on cars too: if you're car won't stop, turn the key in the ignition to "off"; instant loss of power.

yes, i know, with power steering and brakes, that loss of power will adversely affect them both. here's the trick: even with the engine off, both still work, though at a reduced level of effectiveness.

i really wish i cared, even an iota, about the NBA playoffs.....................nope, i still don't.

oh, one other grill tip: most foods cook better with indirect, rather than direct heat. they tend to not dry out or burn that way. i learned this the very hard way!
