Biden Stops For Barbecue in Denver
This afternoon Vice President Joe Biden walked into M&D's, a local barbecue haunt in Denver, before speaking at a Middle Class Task Force at the Natural History Museum. He was a hit with the customers.
Tomorrow he gives the commencement address at the Air Force Academy.
I want to know where he was for dinner. The TL Kid and I were driving back from the Lowry area -- going west on Alameda -- around 6:00 pm. Around Quebec, he notices there are two cop cars parked on each side street. I suggest maybe it's "The Heat is on" D.U.I. campaign which relaunched this weekend. But we're in a boring, non-fancy, residential area. Would they be trying to get workers driving home after Happy Hour? Unlikely.

We get into a discussion about the legality of the program, which lasts another four or five blocks, to Monaco, and there's still either one or two cop cars parked on each side street. Definitely was not a D.U.I. campaign.
After another five blocks and more parked cop cars, we turned off Alameda onto Holly, and there was a single cop car parked. We debated stopping and asking the officer what was up, but neither one of us likes talking to police if we don't have to, so we skipped it. We finally decided either someone really important was in the area or there was a terror threat. But, it was a very bland area. No expensive homes, no restaurants. Just a nursing home, and there was only an mini-ambulance in front, no fancy cars. The only other things nearby were a Temple and a Mosque.
So, now I'm curious: Where did Joe stop for dinner? Was it part of Middle Class Task Force Day that he stop for dinner at some random middle class family's home?
Update: One possibility:Also on Tuesday, Biden's wife will visit the Lowry campus of the Community College of Aurora. Jill Biden will tour the school's Simulated Emergency Medical Services Program facility and speak with college administrators, students and graduates, White House officials said Friday.According to TPM, Mrs Biden spoke at 3:30 pm. Still doesn't explain why so many cops were needed every block for a mile or more at 6:00 pm, but I'm getting closer. The visit is part of her work to highlight the Obama administration's commitment to the country's community colleges and their students.
