Iran Frees Jailed U.S. Journalist

Roxana Sarberi has been freed in Iran and reunited with her parents. She can now return to the U.S.

It looks to me like efforts by the Obama Administration and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were successful. Iran reduced Sarberi's sentence to a suspended term:

The judiciary spokesman, Jamshidi, said the appeals court reduced her sentence as a gesture of "Islamic mercy" because she had cooperated with authorities and had expressed regret.

    one less political prisoner in the world...now if we can get the cages sprung open for the rest we'll really be getting somewhere.

    ...we start a new paradigm here.  It is obvious that to make the most positive inroads, our respect for and behavior towards the Iranian people needs to be greater than our animus toward the government.

    This could only happen due to Obama's campaign promise to open direct talks with our enemies, a policy Hillary Clinton campaigned against.

    I guess you missed the debate where Hillary pointedly declared that she was against negotiating with our enemies without preconditions, in direct conflict with Obama's stated policy.

    It was a clear effort to move towards the middle, which seemed like a good move at the time. McCain tried the same line of attack, but he failed as well.

    That's what actually happened. At least try to keep up.

    Wikipedia says that she was in Iran since 2006 but was only arrested February 10, 2009, twenty days after the inauguration.  One might say that she never would have been arrested if GW Bush had still been president.
    Under Obama's watch this woman was sentenced to prison.  Iran then releases the woman they never should have imprisoned in the first place and everyone congratulates each other for the results of the enlightened foreign policy?
