Monday Night TV and Open Thread

It's DWTS and "24" tonight for me. What are you watching? And if you're not watching anything, what else are you doing, reading of interest or thinking about?

Update: More injuries on DWTS. Melissa isn't there due to complications from rib injuries and Gilles has an injured collarbone requiring cortisone shots.

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

The FDIC should be able to take over and shut bank-holding companies and other large institutions instead of just failed commercial banks, Bair said today in a speech at the Economic Club of New York. Such power would shield taxpayers from losses when government protects companies deemed "too big to fail," a concept that should be "tossed into the dustbin," she said.

Bair and Warren should be calling the shots on the bank mess instead of Timmy and Larry.

Just returned from tutoring.  My 5th grader will be tested three days a week for the next two weeks.

Flaked on going to hear Brian Monaghan and his wife Jerri discuss their jointly written book about his 10 year survival of a malignant melanoma that metastisized to the brain. He is a well-known California plaintiffs' trial attorney.

...Neil Young last night (and paying the price today), what did I miss on 24?

Great show, BTW--small venue, lots of old hits, good mix of acoustic and electric.

I also missed the Rox beat-up on oculus's Padres and the Nugget's crushing New Orleans last night.

Fowler's five steals tied a modern-day, major-league rookie record (since 1900). He tied the Padres' Damian Jackson, who stole five bases against the Rockies on June 28, 1999, at San Diego.

sure more than 50% (barely) favor an investigation, but more than 50% also consider it "justified".  And in general, we tend to like investigations.

For some reason this reminds me of the run-up to the Iraq war.  I feel like half the country is taking crazy pills.
