Can I put in a good word for Daylight Saving Time? (5.00 / 5) (#1)
by andgarden on Sun Mar 08, 2009 at 05:57:15 PM EST
I'm essentially on a 2nd shift schedule these days, and getting essentially an extra hour of daylight in the evening is very nice.

    I have a trillion things to do with an extra (5.00 / 3) (#2)

hour of daylight lately.  If my things were only dollars, perhaps I could save a company today, but not tomorrow :)

It's always a positive sign imo :) Plus, I could use the light more at the end of the day than the beginning right now. Pretty soon the trees will start busting out their new green leaves . . . .

but in these latitudes the arrival of spring is like being born all over again.

Most important for today, Michigan State beat Purdue 61-50 at home to end the regular season at 15-3 in the Big Ten and 25-5 overall.  Playing for NCAA seed now.

Seems like all of the sports pundits want the four top seeds to go exclusively to Big East and ACC teams.

I don't think I'll ever get jaded about the arrival of spring. It's just too wonderful! Heck, we had a foot of snow last week and I froze my behind off for a few days. Then on Saturday, we had a taste of 70. Now I start "green halo" watch. Prob won't be for awhile, but barring anymore severe weather changes . . . . that "green halo" is coming. And I just love it. It's just so perfect. Mother nature really knows what she's doing  ;)

I thought I was the only one. I walk after dark and I don't like it either. I live near the edge of Eastern/Central and in the summer it is 9:30 before it gets dark.

like standard sizes, have their plusses and minuses.

Did you know that all of China runs on Beijing time? I can't imagine that would be much fun in the west.

well, I guess that could be a problem.

At least you don't live in northern europe: in the middle of the summer, it can be light out until 10PM or later.

worker, I love it.  My friend, an early riser who often emails me at the (to me) ungodly hour of 5:30 or 6:00 Am, it's depressing as hell.  Each to his own.

was being a early bird and working third shift.  Going to bed when the sun rises stinks, doubly so in the winter.  Second shift wasn't so bad because I got to be home during my most productive hours.

That an Auburn Tiger basketball fan would be excited for anything bot the women's hoops in March?

Go Auburn! Beat Vandy tonight! I want a top seed somewhere!

BTD, what are you thinking about the SEC tourney? Auburn's RPI is 64 today, and they're the hottest team in the SEC for the past month and a half.

didn't have to watch Vandy celebrate. :) Sometimes, a conference tourney loss actually helps in the big tournament. I also think Auburn was emotionally spent from last night. Bonner is from TN and you know how badly she wanted to beat the LV's.

Good luck in the men's tourney. I think we play the winner of Vandy/Bama. We owe Bama after today! We didn't deserve to win though, with all the free throws we missed.

What was that about "change we can believe in"?

Well, we can certainly believe that we will lose (none / 0) (#19)

ALL of our money in the stock market, all of our pensions and retirements.  We can also believe in a change to very high unemployment,  hitting double digits within months, and the market hitting 1,000 by summer.  Those are HUGE changes that we can believe in.   We can believe that Geithner is clueless and that our esteemed leader is anything but and that he will not make any decisions about the market.  He will continue to dither.  That's certainly change in a ''leader''.  He won't lead!

This week.  I'm betting down 5-600 by the end of the week and down to 3,500 by the end of April.  By June, down to 1,000.  Now that we have no money left, it's a fun game.
