why only once a year, and why a cap on spending?

I say let freedom ring baby...the freedom to travel and the freedom to spend.

to its soldiers. Our voluntary military is so manipulated. Not only did I hear this morning that the bonuses for extended stays in Iraq and Afghanistan are not being paid out, but they force charitable contributions, then hoard the money.

The military has few men and women enlisted from the wealthy, and this is really nothing more than another example of class controls by our gov't. Heaven knows the wealthy don't want to pay enough in taxes to thank the people who keep their freedoms in place.

    That's f*cked up.... (none / 0) (#3)

we should have made any receipt of stimulus money pending 6 months service in Iraq or Afghanistan...the bankers would have righted their own ship right quick.

    Ahhh, the banks :) (none / 0) (#4)

This may or may not have made national news, but the fraud that was pushed on the population during the housing boom had absolutely no limits.

I'm sure this story is only one of many thousands across the nation. But, our tax money is bailing out the banks rather than suing them for every single one of the fraudulent loans they tricked people into taking.

I sit in my office overlooking the growing Bellevue skyline and count 8 brand new luxury high-rise condo buildings. I'm baffled by how many people need to be able to afford those places, and WANT to live in a downtown location. Downtown Bellevue is prime real estate with spectacular views. Only the unsuspecting newcomer to the area would ever think they could buy into one of those with less than a six figure income.

But, as I said, let's keep our tax money flowing as fast as we can into these honorable banking institutions.

"tricked" into these loans. Maybe not even many. At least a certain amount of them were the "trickers" not the "trickees."

The guy who's office was next to mine up to about '07 was doing homeowner loans, "fixing" credit, etc. He used to laugh when a borrower's SS# came back as "deceased."

every Senator and Representative was made to expose every single company they, or their spouse, own as little as one share of stock in.

We make it way too easy for elected officials to get away with whatever they want through the power of the office we gave them.

Ted Kennedy is a prime example that we should have term limits across the board. If these people really, truly want to make life better in this country, they can champion causes outside of office with greater success because they know how the process works.

He needs to be "recalled" by the people of his state. It seems he has turned into more of a lobbyist than a Senator. AARP is no longer serving the elderly properly, either.

This MA resident isn't voting Ted out any time soon.

He is by no means perfect, but I would still take him any day over 95% of the other dem senators, starting with our other one (Kerry)...

I will take his voting record and history over any one else's in a heartbeat.  And the amount of work/time he puts into constituent services is huge.
