CREW announced the settlement today of its long-standing lawsuit over years of missing e-mails of the Bush Administration. The settlement agreement is here (pdf.)

Documents produced so far show the Bush White House was lying when officials claimed no emails were ever missing. The record now proves incontrovertibly that Bush administration officials deliberately ignored the problem and, in fact, knowingly allowed it to worsen. Some questions remain unanswered.

Surely the NSA has the capability of zipping through multiple millions of emails and filtering out all the "let's do lunch" and "cute cat video" messages from the ones that relate to the relevant topics.
Think the NSA will share? If we ask nicely?

"proves incontrovertibly" is in the mind of that particular speaker (CREW)

22 million was recovered during the Bush Administration.

More, maybe up to a total of maybe 33 million, may be recovered before the 11 Million USD designated for this task is exhausted.

Some emails will not be available for 4 years but I am not sure when that clock started. Maybe it is only 3 years now.

Some will never be revealed due to standard (not FOIA covered) rules including real privilege.

And when all the emails that are available are digested, will we then face another "empty bubble" like the wildly anticipated Rove deposition by the House and the release of the FBI interviews of Cheney.

Just a little "plop" and the bubble is gone!
