Monday Afternoon Open Thread

In important news, Friday I will be publishing my comprehensive college football bowl preview, complete with picks against the spread (as of December 18) in all 34 games. This will be my last chance to get my season record above the .600 mark against the spread for the season. I think I need to go 23-11 or something like that. I've done it before. And I will do it again.

This is an Open Thread.

And Michigan? Oh that's right. No bowl game (none / 0) (#7)

sports betting is illegal in my state, as well as most others, yet most every daily paper in the country publishes the betting lines.  The NY Daily News even has the legendary Mighty Quinn on staff with his picks, quips, and his surplus/deficit, only its "sirignanos", not dollars. Even drug laws are not flouted like this...not even jaywalking laws.

Why have laws against sports betting?  I'd really like to know.

She is a wonderful soprano, currently singing with the LA Opera. I just saw her (and Placido Domingo) last month in "Tamerlano." She has an impressive bio, especially for one so young.

We must ignore the fact that she is the daughter of Tom Coburn...

It's Billy Harper on tenor. He's an excellent player. And the late, great Billy Higgins was on drums. I'm still sad he's no longer with us, but at least I got to see him live (with Josh Redman, Pat Metheny, and Christian McBride) once.

I put some more Weston info on that other thread, btw.

That is very impressive. I've never seen it done. Good luck.

As an aside I used to be in a pool that picked winners only. No points. And no one out of about 50 over several years picked 70% winners.
