The Tip Of The Iceberg

mcjoan:

Senate [HCR] Bill has Loophole Allowing Coverage Limits

That was an easy catch. Just wait till the lawyers start in on the meaning of "is," "may," "shall," "notice," etc. Regulation of health insurance does not work in the United States.

    ...Gator Boy.

Clearly, those millions of dollars in restitution we recover for Colorado residents every year for unpaid/late paid claims, unlawful denial of benefits, et al are a result of the failure of the regulatory oversite of health carriers.

I am impressed. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the insurance companies are laughing at you while they count their Billions.

But then, my enforcement tools are only as good as the legislature allows.  Give me better tools and I can guarantee they would be laughing as much.

It is silly to say something doesn't work when we haven't even tried it yet.

it can never really be tried Mile...government is wealth's protection racket, not the poor nor the sick's.  Any gains/protections we think we've won are merely scraps from the boss man's table...to protect wealth from the Marie Antionette treatment.

...but that's not going to stop me from twisting arms and bending ears towards getting legislation introduced to remove the lifetime caps, doing away with retro-active cancellations and pre-ex.  Just as hard, if not harder, than we are currently doing to get rid of sex based rating.  At least on the State level.

And luckily, we are the final arbitrators of the intent of any legislation, not the Company lawyers.  But, I do absolutely detest the wishy-washy "may" crap.  "Shall" is much preferred.

appears to be about a problem with legislation, not with regulation.

that once legislation passes, and is signed, it goes to the regulatory side of the process, where I would imagine things can get interesting - and this may be what BTD is referring to.

Jane Hamsher is reporting that HHS knew all along about the language Harry dropped into the bill, so I guess they are all in on the Big Bamboozle.

And, it's starting to look more and more like this "Medicare" buy-in will be just another head-fake, taking advantage of the name to garner support for something that isn't Medicare at all.

Honestly, I think Rube Goldberg would be horrified at what the Congress is putting together - at least Rube's contraptions actually worked...

Regulation of health insurance does not work in the United States

it gives the insurance company lawyers plenty of things to pick at, to either keep from insuring people, or deny payment of claims, when a customer has the nerve to become ill or get injured.
