E For Effort

In the season finale of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Larry was supposed to do a favor ("F for Favor") for Mocha Joe, whom Larry had neglected to tip for doing him a favor. Mocha Joe asked Larry to pick up coffee beans ("C for Coffee") for Mocha Joe. Larry tried to get the beans, but arrived late and could not get the beans. The next day, Larry pleaded for an "E for Effort."

Mocha Joe (with an assist from Jerry Seinfeld) gave Larry an F for not completing the favor. Right now I am prepared to give the Democrats in Congress an E for Effort on their Health Insurance Premium Assistance Bill, but I still want a favor -- forget the pipe dream of 60 votes in the Senate and figure out what you can pass through R for Reconciliation.

Then they can all declare a V for Victory (S for Success?) and at least some less well off folks can get some insurance (C for Crappy?) paid for by wealthy folks (P for Progressive taxation?)

Otherwise, maybe we put Susie Essman on them.

Speaking for me only

    "A" for absurd.

"B" for barring single payer advocates from any discussion

"C" for conspiracy with the industry

"D" for their proficiency in the department of dither, delay and derail

"E" for how much it all resembles excrement, and how it inspires frequent and loudly uttered expletives to roll off my tongue.

"F" for f**king over the American people and leaving no doubt just how much contempt they really have for us.

If there were such a thing as a Congressional Aptitude Test, Congress would be scrapping plans for a college education and filling out applications for McDonald's - and not getting the job.

Oh I forgot the state goal was to provide universal, affordable health care. If they hadn't changed the goal, I would have to give them a "F."

by forcing reconciliation because a worthless trigger is too far for him.

Obama and Reid would have to pursue reconciliation over no bill at all if Joe (or Nelson, or Lincoln or Landrieu) prevents 60 votes from ever happening on any compromise, right?

    I can't think of two people less likely (5.00 / 1) (#10)

to go for reconciliation than Obama and Reid. Despite the name 'reconciliation', which sounds like something they would love, it is way too much of a firestorm for them.

is more compatible to reconciliation over status quo if 60 votes is not possible (or if passage of a lame compromise is too much to swallow for House members).

Obama would not agree to this turning into his "Waterloo"
