America's Next Top Model has its tv finale tonight. The winner: Colorado's Nicole Fox, an 18 year old C.U. sophomore from Louisville, Colorado.

Congrats, Nicole. (She became my favorite weeks ago.) More on her here.

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

    Congress person:  "We must allow true competition in the health care industry by permitting individuals to buy health insurance across state lines.  We should also use the consumer-choice model that is based on the health care Members of Congress receive."  (Italics added.)

    Sorry, but she can't be ... (none / 0) (#2)

    ... a real, bona fide "Top Model" until at least one of the following four scenarios plays out in public and the media:

    (1) She has a temper tantrum over the lack of fresh ice and Perrier in her dressing room, and throws an inanimate object at her personal assistant before storming off the set of a photo shoot, prompting the assistant to press civil charges that are quickly resolved in an undisclosed settlement brokered by Gloria Allred;

    (2) With Hollywood beckoning, she inexplicably shares top billing with either Vin Diesel in a forgettably cheesy action caper with lots of car chases and explosions, or with Josh Hartnett and Kate Hudson in a terminally unfunny romantic comedy that gets its few laughs with the on-screen antics of a cute small dog, and then announces pretentiously to US magazine that she'd like to work with Lindsay Lohan and Kiefer Sutherland in a Broadway revival of Lillian Hellmann's The Children's Hour;

    (3) On a pharmaceutically-induced whim amid a whirlwind trip to Vegas, she marries either a notorious womanizing svengali figure who's at least 25 years her senior and who publicly dumps his longtime 40-something actress-girlfriend for her, or a gay / bi pop star whose sexuality is an open secret to practically everyone in America but her; or

    (4) She's arrested by police in suburban L.A. after a short car chase for running a couple red lights, driving without a license and DUI - with a real shot at supermodel immortality if the arrest occurs in Beverly Hills after a spat with her svengali spouse who expresses his concern over her increasing fondness for nose candy, or in West Hollywood after she catches her pop star husband kissing and groping another man, who ironically had only hours earlier turned her down when she tried to hit on him at a party.

    After all, the true divas of the runway have a long and illustrious legacy to uphold.

    Top Chef anyone? (none / 0) (#3)

    I don't get it, Kevin is my favorite, but they said his dish would have been disqualified for its simplicity and as well as the brother who had a bone in his fish (am I getting that rigth?).  Yet Kevin wins and the brother stays.  No one's protein was really cooked right, except the obnoxious brother I think---and it seems they all didn't have a great night...

    I'm not unhappy with the final decision, but seemed like an off night for all the chefs...

    I think his was the only one (none / 0) (#6)
