After 10 days off from work, I don't feel going back just yet, but I have clients to visit in jail and then I have to play catch-up and tackle the mail, pleadings and client calls that came in during my abscence.

I'm tired of the holidays and glad they are ending, but I'd also like a few days to my myself before jumping back into the fray. Am I alone, or do any of you feel like I do?

    Christmas 2009!! Yes, I will be spending the next 2 weeks making samples of 2009 Christmas product. I usually just do the designs, but client was in a jam for a meeting . . . .  I'm keeping it in perspective. I'm getting paid for "crafting", lol!~ Oh, and add in 5 a cats and a dog when dealing with fibers, yummy furry fabrics and stuffed things. OY. I've worked out what I can do around the dog, and what I can do around the cats {grin}

    I took a mental work break between the 2 holidays and didn't get overly "festive", so I'm more amused at my life right now vs sick of the holidays and not happy to be still dealing with the thought process. What can I say, at least I get a computer/designing vacation.

    Two weeks with the kids turned out not too bad.  They still have their problems, but there's a huge improvement from a year ago. This break I worked on simple requests with my youngest "I want some ___, please".  I still have to prompt for every word, but he's responding now.

    (His usual requests consist of carrying a pitcher of juice to me (drink) or a gallon of milk (cereal).)

    Today we did our morning cardio while waiting for the bus.  We hold hands and jump, we dance in circles, we practice standing on one leg.  His brother and I usually wave good bye to all the kids on the bus (preschool 3-5 year olds).  We wave good bye to him as well but he never waves back.  Today we waved and waved and he waved back and said "Good-bye.".  It was a good start to the day.  [happy]

    Parenting.  24/7, no OSHA breaks or vacations.

    I just saw this news on Yahoo!  Whew! I am glad one less R will be in the Senate.

    I took all my holiday stuff down on NY day.  I hung up some valentine's decorations to kinda have something festive in the house.  

    This is a nasty Monday:  it's rainy, very cold (rain is starting to freeze) and it is SLOW at work.  I wish I could have just stayed in and read all day.

    BTW, our illustrious Senator -- what Washington needs is more common sense (yeah like you can do that]-- Coryn, has said that he would oppose seating Franken as long as the legal challenges were pending.

    so yes, I am in the Westoplex of the metroplex.  Senator John Cornyn is a joke.  He has, surely, better things to do like tending to the business of the state of Texas than what is happening in Minnesota.

    We have bridges here in Fort Worth that are rated super unsafe (ala the Mpls tragedy).  Perhaps I should call his office and remind him.  That jacka55.  R's are certainly concerned with democracy in Iraq but want to kill it here in the USA.

    at least for just two more months, at which time 'distracted is finally headed back to the west coast, where I belong.

    I was unaware of the issues surrounding the bridges here, and damn we have many. Are you also talking those hi-rise flyovers? And if you're gonna try and find Cornyn, you might look in that wheat field (remember that sorry old commercial during the election?).

    and decorations after Christmas and New Year's and the accompanying madness have past. It's too crazy during the actual holidays to enjoy it all. Right now is my perfect holiday time.

    I had a week and a half off, and am now back in the office. It was nice for about the first half hour to say hello to everyone, but now the work part of it is setting in.

    Only 6 months till Memorial Day - aarrrgh!

    Oh well, as a good friend used to say, if they called it 'fun' instead of 'work', we'd have to pay them.

    I am sooooooo not into work today.  I've been out since 24th, so I definately got out of the work routine (staying up way past my normal bedtime, etc.) and the cold, cold weather this morning didn't help my motivation to get out of my nice warm bed this am.  

    Oh well, this too shall pass, right?  After all, it's almost Stock Show time and that means Spring is just around the corner in the Queen City of the Plains.

    the alarm clock went off like a WMD this morning...and I only had two 4-day weekends back to back...I can't imagine the bummer going back after a couple weeks off straight is like.

    I sooooo can't wait to retire.  Too bad that day will never arrive.

    How was the annual kdog family Christmas Eve party?  I trust the hot tub was properly heated and all were well lubricated?

    Thanks for asking.  Spent two early morning hours in the hot tub at the party, which was kinda tame by past standards...the bad weather kept some guests away.  The drinks and the laughs were plentiful though, as always.

    My buddy who tends bar took great care of us on NYE, I'd be surprised if we paid for every other drink...and it was so damn cold you felt safe burning spliffs in the middle of the sidewalk, being 20 blocks or so from the madness in Times Square and nary a cop to be seen, a rarity anywhere in Manhattan.  The one down note, the slice of Penn Station pizza at 4 am didn't agree with me...had an incident in the train's restroom.

    I shouldn't feel too sorry for myself getting back to work today, it could be a lot worse...I could have went to work cleaning that LIRR restroom on January 1st...that poor slob has any sob stories of mine beat easy:)

    Not really. I'm envious. My wife asked me to spend it with her and her 82 year-old mother -- and I agreed. Good god, what's happening to me.

    I don't know why I'm carping, here. I would needed three weeks to receover from a good outing anyway. And with that new deducttible on my insurance, I need to ve vewy vewy careful.

    My buddy from FLA that I took out for New Years is to drinking like I am to smoking...so when we roll together and rage all night it usually ends badly for me.  My buddy must have iron guts or something because as I'm ralphing in the bathroom he's cracking another open for the train ride home.

    Actually, in that respect its good to be back to work, my guts needed a vacation from all the booze:)

    4 a.m.?  Now that's some serious celebrating.  You know, sometimes those incidents just happen.  That's just the way it works.  Ain't no fun though.  

    And I've had my fair share of incidents...

    Kagan was one of two D.C. Circuit nominees whose nominations were not acted on before Clinton's term ended in January 2001

    with all you carry for others, when this could have been your time to do all that other stuff.  Take heart; my spouse "retired" at 55 to start grad school and now, a decade later, is doing great at  his next career . . . luckily, after what happened to his nest egg this year.

    Btw, if it helps, you may be in a state (like mine) where you can get out to at least audit courses for free or a minimal cost, until that possibility of grad school works out.  Or if you can't get out, you could consider auditing an online course; there are so many now (at accredited schools, not just matchbook-cover storefront schools).  And that can be a good way to get back into the school mode for grad studies, too -- and/or can help get into grad school at all, when the time comes.  

    In the interim, it can just be fun, as auditing can mean no papers or tests to do but just learning for the sake of learning; what a concept.  At sounds like you deserve some fun for yourself, with all you do for others.

    as the court just ruled against him -- and also against its own previous ruling, it appears to some media there.  Consistency, thy name is not the Minnesota Supreme Court.:-)

    Even the state Supreme Court Justice on the Canvassing Board admits there must have been double-counting, among other oddities.

    Weird to see such oddities in Minnesota, a paragon of good government.  Ah well, the end must justify the means . . . and it may end in a week at most now, if Coleman files the next expected suit.  Or sooner, if he wakes up and gives up against the consistent tide against him.
