Open Thread and Diary Rescue

I've been at work all day, and will be Wednesday as well. We have a new diary up by James TX on an interesting Kansas case involving the prosecution of a doctor who prescribed pain medication.

Nonpartisan has a diary on Wilmington, Delaware and the attempt to create a Green Zone for jobs.

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

Ignoring that it's Freidman, there are aspects of the plan that make sense. I'm all for including the other Mid East countries in the process. I would even like to see Syria brought into it.

I was listening to Jimmy Carter promoting his new book on the Middle East and he feels Mitchell is the right man for the job. We have a window of opportunity right now. Hopefully we won't allow it to close.

It was always bait and switch (5.00 / 2) (#8)

Obama's anti war stance in regard to Iraq was always just a tool to separate him from the rest in the primaries. He's backed away from it once the illusion was created.

Many on the left chose to ignore the fact that his voting record on funding was exactly where everyone else's was.

With all the talk about cutting spending, there isn't a peep out of anyone about the billions a month we're pouring into the Middle East. As pathetic as it is, I think we're going to still be talking about "the War" in 2012 and beyond.

Be careful - Bill Clinton was called a racist for saying the exact same thing:

"You said in 2004 there was no difference between you and George Bush on the war, and you took that speech you're now running on off your Web site in 2004. There's no difference in your voting record and Hillary's ever since. Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen."

    Here we go again.

"President Obama intends to adopt a tougher line toward Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, as part of a new American approach to Afghanistan that will put more emphasis on waging war than on development, senior administration officials said Tuesday."

Another 30,000 hapless Americans will be sent to this mess.

Is the grassroots, the netroots, the left, progressives - anybody - interested in opposing this folly?

    I think those groups don't mind... (none / 0) (#9)

as long as the orders to kill are given by a guy with a "D" after his name.

Now if Bush was still in charge, then we would hear some opposition.  I guess it is up to Michelle Malkin to criticize this ramping up of the occupation:)
