    Ugh.  I'm so tired of her starry-eyed recountings of JFK and her Obama as Lincoln/Team of Rivals meme.

    Obama needs to chart his own course.
    One of the things I have never liked about Obama was/is his tendency to relive lives of other Presidents (i.e Lincoln and JFK).
    Obama's success will depend on his ability to rise to deal with the crisis we have during these times, not to emulate the actions of past Presidents.
    Each President had to deal with specific problems that were for the most part unique for their respective times.

    keeps freeking me out, and perhaps others who know that Lincoln took no such public tour across the country.  For reasons of security, Lincoln came into the capital almost incognito, very low-key.

    And, of course, Lincoln was an interestingly irreligious man in many ways, so his use of the Bible for his oath was far more ceremonial than what a Bible would mean to the very religious Obama.

    Examples of the emulation that fall short for those who know Lincolniana -- as a lot of people do.  But not most people, nor the media, who enjoy all these allusions to history that are actually ahistorical.

    But if Obama can truly live up to Lincoln and find some more Americans to free (they're all gone from Guantanamo now, aren't they?), that's fine with me. :-)  As long as they don't have to swear on a Bible -- or a Koran or whatever -- to do so.

    Obama is no Lincoln.  

    Why don't people understand that when you hold yourself up to an icon (or hold yourself out as an icon), all you can do is pale in comparison? From what I remember learning, Kennedy and Johnson hated each other, and I don't really think Nixon and Ford liked each other, and Reagan and Bush weren't exactly close.

    Obama will not save the union - why don't they just let him be himself, warts and all?

    ...taking the Cornshuckers down a notch or two, you have to give them some credit for scheduling Virginia Tech on the road next year.  

    But you're spot-on otherwise.  I mean Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State at home?  C'mon.  Sure it's a bundle of cash for the visitors, but doesn't do much for elevating the program's status.

    Sometimes I think Big Red fans still harbor this fantasy that Tom Osborne is going to come riding into Lincoln on his white horse and save the program.

    should never have lost to Virginia Tech this year.
    30 to 35... that was the most frustrating game...
    I think they just want a chance to vindicate themselves... try to get back some of those turnovers.

    defeated Kansas this year, 45-35. We Lost to Virginia Tech, Missouri, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. As long as Utah and Boise State continue to play the way they played this year, I have no problem with your suggestion.

    Should be a terrific game tonight. Can't wait to watch Pittsburgh beat Baltimore for the third time this season!

    AFC Championship might just be the "real" Super Bowl, but as a diehard Ravens fan, I'm hoping for a different outcome than the one you're waiting for.

    Still cannot believe the afternoon game is being played in the sun, in Arizona, and Ravens-Steelers will be played in the dark and in the snow on a frozen field with a concrete football.

    It's gonne be ugly, but as we say here, "Third Time's the Charm!"

    the media's been hyping Ravens-Steelers like it was the Super Bowl.

    Anyway, Philly choked - again - Baltimore's 18 straight weeks of football finally caught up to them, and we lost; the parting gift to McGahee was just so Steelers.  

    Just one reason why I'll be rooting for Arizona to beat the cr@p out of Pittsburgh in Tampa.

    And no, I am not in a good mood this morning. :(
