Kudos to this blog for staying classy (5.00 / 1) (#1)
by democrattotheend on Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 02:24:22 PM EST
I don't post here much...I supported Obama during the primaries so I've never fully felt comfortable here. But right now I am kind of upset at the way some people at Kos and other blogs are behaving...Obama was extremely classy with his response to the Bristol Palin controversy, but sadly, some people at other sites are not following his lead. So I just wanted to say kudos to the people here for taking the high road...there are plenty of legitimate criticisms of Sarah Palin, but her daughter is not one of them.

Thanks, but please do not mention (none / 0) (#18)

A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she'd be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she'd be facing, etc.:

Palin: "Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?"

    McCain aide: "No, Governor."

Palin: "A hockey mom wears lipstick."

I thought the thing Capt posted was just a joke making the rounds.  But Kristol opens with this:

McCain aides whose judgment I trust are impressed by Sarah Palin. One was particularly amused by this exchange:

This at least allows one to believe this exchange truly happened.

berating Palin on CNN.  I have to admit it kinda makes me want to root for Palin, not vote for her mind you. But I hope she ends up having something positive to offer so the hyenas will get off her back.  Sally had nothing to say about her executive abilities, it was all family and gender-related arguments against her.

about this strategy backfiring unfortunately. The personal attacks and smears worked against Hillary and I think they will also work against Palin. And I find it disgusting, whether directed at a man or woman, republican or democrat.

this is so far beyond the pale it can honestly only backfire.
again the undiscussed "other".  wanting to see medical records for them both????
I cant even remember anything that disgusting and low ever being leveled at Hillary from any reputable source.

All the polls out today and yesterday?  Everything is not only showing more gains for Obama after the initial stall from the Palin announcement, but now they're showing all the Clinton suporters coming over, and women not responding well to McCain's pick of Palin at all.

Just wondering, at what point do we stop waiting and fretting over the impending 'backlash'?  Friday?  Next friday?  Cause I've been hearing about it all week.

    Calling Palin Governor (none / 0) (#37)
by daring grace on Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 04:54:50 PM EST
On another thread, I requested that another writer use the term Governor in a post where they called Palin MRS. Palin and then their message disappeared.

Then another person asked me why, when I never seem to call Obama SENATOR Obama did I ask that about Palin.

Well, as I said, the first 'Mrs.' post had vanished (or maybe I dreamed it was there in the first place, at my age more and more a possibility).

So I just wanted to say that I have found it more common that women politicians are called Ms. or Mrs. instead of their title--senator, governor. It's not that often, but I seldom see it with male politicians and it irks me.

So if I ever see anyone calling him MR Obama, I'll ask them to say Senator...or hopefully, soon, President.

    Palin's Attorney-Ken Starr Was Political Vandetta (none / 0) (#42)
by john horse on Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 07:56:28 PM EST
I would like some of my GOP friends to comment on this quote from Palins attorney Thomas Van Flein about the state senator (Hollis French) charged with overseeing the investigation of Troopergate. Specifically in defending Palin, he makes an assertion that the Ken Starr investigation was a "political vandetta".

"Our concern is that Hollis French turns into Ken Starr and uses public money to pursue a political vendetta rather than truly pursue an honest inquiry into an alleged ethics issue,"

Isn't Palin's attorney implying that all those GOP leaders who were involved in Clinton's impeachment were a bunch of liars since they all denied that politics had anything to do with it?
