It criticizes Sen. McCain AND highlights a specific policy response.  Could the Obama media folks please pay attention?

What do they say in that Ad (5.00 / 2) (#11)

That Obama has not said?  What policies do they want, unionists and "average folk" smitten by Bushco, that Obama does not call for?

"He doesn't relate to the average American" is a meme.  A dangeroius meme.  At its best it gives you the Bill O'Reillys, the Michael Savages, the Ann Coulters, the Lou Dobbes.  At its worst, that meme gives you the Bush Presidency.  A Conneticut Blueblood who wears a cowboy costume and people want to have a beer with him.

I'm just like you is always a lying argument.  "Always," as Prince once wrote, "every time."  Nobody with the wherewithal to run for President is anywhere remotely like the average American.

And then Anti Intellectualism remains an anchor around the American neck.  We need to cast it aside and address problems responsibly, at home and abroad.

    Speaking for me only.

Good ad that reinforces what Obama says every day on the trail.

We all need to stop paying attention to the ad folks and start listening to what the actual candidates are saying.

    Responsibility (5.00 / 2) (#7)
by Democratic Cat on Sun Sep 14, 2008 at 05:26:35 PM EST
It is the candidate's responsibility to get their message across in a way that works. Only a tiny fraction of voters will ever hear a candidate's stump speech. A somewhat larger fraction will read media coverage of candidates in any depth. Ads are inportant and they should reinforce the message, like this one, even though it was not produced by Obama's camp. You can't say 'go to the website' to see what his policies are; go listen to his stump speech on youtube. People don't have time, they aren't terribly civically minded, yet voting is a right enjoyed by all, no test required of whether you know the candidate's positions. So, it's the candidate's responsibility. The ads are a part of the campaign and should be used wisely.

I love what BO said in his acceptance speech about the "trickle-down" theorists "owning their failure."

To paraphrase a B-movie actor, "Republicans are not the answer to our problems - Republicans ARE the problem."

I'm going to go against the popular opinion here and state that Obama advocating tax cuts is playing into the GOP's frames.

I would think putting people to work would be a better idea than a tax cut. People don't care about tax cuts when they don't have jobs.

say though that this ad is much better because it actually offers a solution instead of just saying what is wrong.
