Karl Rove was not speaking about himself when he used the phrase "big, blowhard dufus" at the Republican National Convention. He pinned that label instead on Joe Biden. Told of the insult, Biden

smiled and called Rove “a great American.” Then he turned and walked away.

It's nice to see that Biden wasn't goaded into an insult-hurling contest by Rove's tactics. Asked when he and Barack Obama would resume full-fledged campaigning in light of Hurricane Gustav, Biden responded:

“I don’t think we’ll have any problem resuming the campaign,” Biden said, and then smiled again. “You see Karl Rove doesn’t have any problem resuming the campaign. He didn’t get the memo.”

    I think he comes out of the exchange looking good.

    Also, I don't know the context or tone of the Rove remark,  however I think most people will probably not assume that Rove meant it in the affectionate sense.  It is Rove after all.

    I especially loved his response to the question about the resumption of campaigning.

    something i do not understand. why do the talking heads and other politicians bow down to karl rove as this genius???? hell look at the repubic party, it is a mess, probably will not win elections for along time. they are losers, so why would anyone want karl rove advising them???? he is a two-bit loser, who can only "win" by deception, lying, stealing elections. he is a big fat zero in the long run. he only knows how to win the battle dishonestly and lose the war!!!!

    "Blowhard" as an insult probably just rolls off his back by now.  His wife probably even calls him that from time to time.

    funny insult.  It means Rove didn't have anything else to say about him so I guess they are probably...  friendly?  ;-)

    a Biden rally live tomorrow.  I believe it's at 12:30 pm, ET.  I'm sure it will be repeated later in the evening.

    --and seems to be taking on some of the characteristics of "No Drama" Obama.  Great!
