The Hillary Clinton Hour

I'll be live blogging the Hillary Clinton segment and speech below the fold. She is scheduled to come on in about a half an hour. There is a video and Chelsea Clinton will introduce her mother.

Bill Clinton arrives.

Harry Thomasson produced the Hillary video that will be shown shortly.

The video is good I think. And Wes Clark makes it into the Convention . . .

Chelsea cuts the intro to one sentence.

A big roar as she walks in.

"A proud Democrat . . . and a proud supporter of Barack Obama."

"No way, no how no McCain."

This is . . . wait for it, cathartic.

Personally, I think she is hitting the perfect pitch for THIS occasion.

"Democrats know how . . ."

Or is this convention even more dreadful than '04.  Michelle Obama's speech was nice and all but so far this has been a non-event.  Hopefully Hillary can jumpstart this thing.

    It made me cry.

David Gregory just asked Chuck Schumer, "Is Hillary's speech about setting up a run for 2012?"

I think all the MSNBC reporters have been assimilated by the Borg, and The Hive Mind has decided to allow them to ask no other question.

more dreadful than 2004. The whole thing has a death pallor over it. It's like everyone on the convention floor knows that Obama is going to lose in Nov.

Schweitzer is a least getting some good lines in. The thing that ruins his whole speech is that Obama voted for the Bush/Cheney energy policy.

Schweitzer now talking about "washington as usual" with Biden on the ticket? It sounds kind of cheesy.

It's good to see Michelle Obama (sorta) applaud Clinton.  But this has been a nontraditional campaign all the way, with these two candidates.

Until a few minutes ago, just before Ted Strickland came on, I was stuck on CNN for my convention coverage.

Thankfully, there was some problem with my feed so I quickly surfed through channels -- skipping over FOX and MSNBC -- and found PBS and C-SPAN.

I'm now going to stick with C-SPAN because their coverage is not being mucked up by the mindless commentary, bloviating and absurd analysis of the talking-heads on the other four channels.

Fox says everyone is pushing forward on the floor in anticipation.

CNN is going to Castenanos.. Warner is the next rock star and serious competition in 2012... uh, if Obama doesn't make it.  (Did anyone not know that the Dems were pushing Warner forward? duh)  Bernstein on, must change channel (he says Warner was Clintonian, ha)

MSNBC.. what is it with the hair?  Tweety looks like he's been (I can't write that) ok, his hair is messy.  Oblaberman's hair is so stiff and  shiny all I can think of is a Reagan holloween mask..... (I like Pat Buchanan this election)  Tweety: 'post rational' time to change the channel.

Fox: speech won't make a difference.  They say Warner was moved because he would not go after McCain.  (Why don't people like Warner just run as indies?)

MSNBC, post-partisan won't get voters.  Need specifics.  This is not going to get votes.  Myers: talk to rural voters.  (Does she know Rahm said this election was going to be in the suburbs? ha)

CNN: Begala, Penn got Clinton where she is (ouch) Borger: Clinton will discuss Clinton economy years.

MSNBC: Tweety still needs to comb his hair and Oblaberman needs a shampoo.

This is a fight and one we must win together.  I haven't spent the last 35 years in the trenches, advocating for children, universal healthcare...and fighting for womens' rights around the world and here at home, to see another Republican in the White House squander another opportunity to fulfill the hopes of our country...or for us to suffer through more failed leadership.  No way, no how, no McCain."

until now.  I will not see a woman president in my lifetime.

But so it goes.  I know enough of the history of this country, its sexism and misogyny, that I didn't expect that I ever would see it.

But that I will not see this person in the White House is cause for tears.  This one would make a difference, at a time when this is what our nation  needs: a fighter, a rabble rouser, a straight talker, a pol with an agenda for more than three decades now who would get it done, at last.

She's laid claim to children's welfare and healthcare as her issues. Obama waffles at his peril if he's in the WH. And Hillary will fight for healthcare for that bald headed cancer victim and her children, for us.

Addressing Iraq and the toll on the injured and just those who spent time there.

    Now, unemployment and poverty.

Sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits! You never gave in and we never gave up.

Mentions loss of Tubbs Jones and Ark Dem chair--my god! She's become a great speaker!!

Fairness. The Clinton key word that still resonates. Even chimps demand fairness! It's in our DNA.

Succinct--a phrase to bring to mind entire complex issues. All to dealt with fairly.
