Cheech and Chong to Reunite for Comedy Tour

Resolving a 25 year inability to just get along, Cheech and Chong, recognizing they aren't getting any younger, are going to reunite and go on tour with a comedy show, called "Hey, What's That Smell?" Details will be announced this afternoon.

Says Cheech Marin:

Marin said he thinks dope humor can be as funny today as it was back in the '70s.

"I think it's time for a revival of dope jokes. It's a much bigger audience now, it's much more widespread and institutionalized," he said in an interview earlier this month.

I hope someone books them for Denver the week of the Convention. The Dems could use some prodding about the need to reform our marijuana laws.

Here's my 90 second video interview of Tommy Chong at Owl Farm last year, with Jimmy Ibbotson (formerly of the Nitty Gritty Dirt band) singing in the background.)

but I don't think his proposal will see the light of day.

    Far too much powerful opposition.

I do appreciate the efforts of Barney and Paul...it's nice to hear people talking about the tyranny amongst us.

Just frustrating to know it will be with us for a long long time to come...I don't expect to ever toke legally on US soil in my lifetime, unless I go to Cali and feign an illness.

I'm surprised that the article is pretty even-handed.  Usually it is the same tired old scare tactics without an opposing viewpoint.

'If HR 5843 were passed, the House would support marijuana smokers possessing up to 100 grams -- about 3½ ounces -- of cannabis without being arrested. It would also give its blessing to the "nonprofit transfer" of up to an ounce of marijuana.'

    Co-sponsored by Ron Paul.

Back in the 70's some friends were over while I was not home and they had left the 8 track on. Memories. I came home with the current boyfriend thinking we were alone. Then I hear 'Is that you Dave?'  I am looking everywhere thinking someone is in the house. There is the 'Dave's not here man'. Took 5 mins to trace it back to the tape.It was like keystone cops looking for the source of the hider.

On another note. I saw them in Miami. It was one of those huge places where everyone was just passing the who know what along the aisle. There were the policemen standing on the stage and they did that dog chasing dog, raising the leg you know where. They were extremely funny, I think. Heh. Dr. Hook and the Medicine show were on the stage too.

secondhand smoke of any kind. I'm asthmatic and not stupid. However, little Johnny is already out behind the school toking up. I know. I used to teach middle school. I wish his mother would be more upset than she is. Little Joey is coming into school in the morning drunk as a skunk. His mother doesn't even notice and resents being told. The legality or illegality of the substance for adult use has little to do with whether kids will try it. If we made everything that we don't want our kids to do also illegal for adults, we wouldn't even be able to drive. I think you are confusing the issue. Whether parents want their kids smoking pot and drinking alcohol or not is different than their wanting those privileges for themselves. I don't think Barney is suggesting selling marijuana to kids.

where you can't be bothered with the hang-ups suburban moms or anybody else...you just wanna be honest.

You're absolutly right though...if a candidate admitted to recreational drug use outside of alcohol, tobacco, or caffeine they'd lose 50 times the votes they would win.  No matter how brilliant their ideas and plans.

    I think that's sad.
