Update: From Denver columnist Penny Parker:

EAVESDROPPING at Sen. John McCain's Denver appearance Friday. The press corps joked that given the speculation about McCain's running mate, perhaps he was going to announce the Dalai Lama as his veep during their meeting later in Aspen.

Said one out-of-town television reporter: "Obama can't do it because then it would be Obama-Lama."

    I think it's great that McCain also shares my admiration for the Lama.  I went to India (Daramshala) and as a guest of a Tibetan family, I participated in their gathering with the Lama where he spoke. The talk was in Tibetan, and my friend translated the main points of the talk. The Dalai Lama was encouraging them because of the difficulties they encounter while in exile.

    The photographer gets kudos from me.  It looks like something you might see in National Geographic.  Nice expressions on their faces too.

    I really think politicians should stay away from religion and religious activities, especially if they're thick within a campaign.

    McCain and the DL in Denver; unless it had to do with the Tibet fiasco, but then why w/should McCain dip his finger into that when he's only a Pres. nom.

    And then there was Obama at the Western Wall in Israel. Obviously just a photo-op, and visual pandering to the Jewish-American voters. Yeah, whatever.

    him (hopefully the D nman will) that the Iraqis and the Iranians are just as human as the Tibetans, before certain "maverick" leaders in China start disseminating stories about the Tibetans hoarding WMDs.

    If you follow the link to the article, you get to see that Lindsey Graham is also holding hands with the Lama. That's no surprise, but McCain looks like he'd rather be waterboarded than be walking hand-in-hand with him...

    and his mind (and body) was strong, strong, strong. If you are young (relatively speaking) I hope you even make it to Sen. McCain's age and if you are not too young (relatively speaking),I hope you are as active as Sen. McCain is at his age. Please try and respect that he is a presidential candidate and should be afforded at least that respect. Sorry, but I'm really sick and tired and the put downs to the person, instead of the policies.

Your recent continued gravitation to my posts is quite amusing. I, however, will just be reading them, not commenting on them. Wanted to re-iterate this point so when you talk about me, as you have, you, and I will know the truth. I've seen some of your other posts here and some, not all, are quite refreshing.     Has nothing to do with his age. It has to do with his sadistic humor and warmongering policy all bundled up into what amounts to a third term of BushCo. We have had enough of that please.

    Both the person and the policies deserve to be put down.

If, and this is a big if, if you personally have not made fun of his age, then I apologize, but if you have, I take it back. Again, Squeaky, until you know me, how I've voted in the past, what my beliefs are, etc. do not even try and offer your opinion of me or my words. Children do that, not mature adults.

    given my opinion(s), as many here do. Glad you read my posts, apparently others do not. I am a grown-up. I have a great sense of humor and a great sense of pride in my fellow-man/woman and country. I am a tried and true democrat, until at least this year. A "D" after someone's name this year does not guarantee my vote. They must earn it. Sen. Obama has not yet earned it. You may feel differently and I respect your choice(s). Please respect mine. I respect your opinion(s), please respect mine. I do not judge you, I do not know you. Please do not judge me, you do not know me. I think Squeaky is quite capable of defending himself and in some areas is quite intelligent and mature. Towards the nature of my posts, he is not. I still respect most who come here, whether I agree with them or not. You do as you choose.

    But from this one, I can respect you; you sound intelligent and sincere.  But I will say this, McSame doesnt deserve that same respect.  When one attaches oneself to the republican brand, theyre signing away their soul to the devil.  That may sound silly and extreme, but thats basically what I believe.  

    Now Im not a fan of Obama (I wanted Hillary to win), but I dont actively hate him.  I actively hate Bush, and therefore hate what McCain has become.  See, McSame isnt just a nickname, its the truth.  So no, they both deserves everything vile coming their way.  

    No third term.

    If McCain makes mistakes every day as he has, i.e. Afghanistan/Iraq border, Czech, Sunni/Shia, etc. he plain does not have a true grasp of reality. We alreay tried one like him, W. and it did not work out to well. McCain is his own politics. He must be rejected.

    we must reject him. Rejection is fair. I was objecting to the put-down due to his age and the name calling. Obama has made mistakes when talking off the cuff with no cue cards to direct him. We all make mistakes. Criticizing the enemy is all part of the "warfare" but to deliberately call him names, i.e. fossel, is ludicrous and inaccurate. Then you should call Obama a fossil, too, whenever he makes a mistake or has to go back and fix something he said.

    However, haven't we had enough of this already! Eight years of being called names and secrets and underhanded tactics etc? Anyone can say anything they want except what is not the accepted rules of this site. I read an article this morning that said that the voting public's habits have not changed since the 50's or 60's. We are still naive and uninformed and still vote, among other factors, how a person dresses, rather than what they say or stand for. Can't we get beyond the name calling on both sides?

    The video of the walk they took together is less good for McCain. He looks uncomfortable and at one point actually looks down and reads from the pages he's carrying. In the video, he looks as at ease as someone having to hold a stranger's hand at a bus stop.

    GWB looks totally comfortable holding hands w/ Bandar. McCain needs to work on it.

    I would totally go for the Dalai Lama being McCain's Veep because McCain won't make it through a first term. That said, the DL is not a natural American so ineligible.

    Bush held hands with; twas the Saudi crown prince, but not much difference.

    But Bush & Bandar, are close, Badar Bush is his name to Shrub and the Bushes. Once back in the 1980's, I vidotaped Prince Bandar & his entouage skiing at Buttermilk in Aspen.

    At the base of the chairlit that AM, I was introduced to and shook hands with  Richard Secord as the "man who sold the AWACS to Saudi Arabia. Security was very tight that week. The State Department cut down all the brush by the side of McClain Flats Road leading to where the Princ was staying. (He did not have his palatial huge home in Aspen at this time. I later prepared videotapes of existing homes near Aspen for him to purchase but he ended up building his own mansion.) We skiied all day. At a picnic table, I had lunch with Bandar, his two boys, little Khalid & Faisal I think their names were and his wife (who later passed funds in San Diego to 2 of the 9-11 terrorists.)

    Later, while riding the chairlift with one of the 7 security guards, this one a British MI5, I was told by the guard not "to do any funny stuff with my camera." The man told me he had a gun and I knew what he meant.

    All day as I videotaped, I witnessed a black limosine taking Bandar & others on & off the mountain. The limo was partway up Buttermilk. I asked the guard what was this all about. He told me, "Mid East peace process."  Quote. After the days skiing, they took my videotape away from me toute suite! Nobody gonna see this but Bandar! I was paid $300 for the day. I know the ski instructor did a good job and I subsequently heard she was paid with her own condo in Paris by Bandar.  

    Bandar, for those of you, was also in Aspen the day Saddam invaded Kuwait in 1991. Just by chance, at a pre arranged event, so was Bush 41 & Maggie Thatcher, Scowcroft et al. They all actually began the Gulf War while huddled in Woody Creek. ............So, a few months after my ski with the Prince, Iran-Conta broke. I later read Woodward's book on the subject and it was clear from the book that that day of skiing in Aspen, with the black limosine "mid at peace process" I witnessed the makings of the multiple $1,000,000,000 Iran-Contra payment (under President Reagan)to the Contras!
